  • Meet Jael Labriel (She/Her), Manager, Quality Control    JaEl Labriel did not follow hockey growing up as her exposure to the sport was limited. While working for Madison Square Garden, JaEl witnessed her first hockey game and recognized the atmosphere as electric. The live game experience and fandom culture made her a hockey fan. In August 2010, JaEl joined the National Hockey League's Quality Control (QC) team and delved into the opportunity of learning about the quality control of the NHL, its products, and its licensee partners.     With almost 15 years of service with the NHL, JaEl oversees approximately 55 licensee accounts, reviewing and providing feedback to merchandise partners for quality control about how League and Club logos are represented. Additionally, JaEl works alongside the Club Business Affairs group relating to execution of Club premium programs which range from giveaways, concession, promotions and staff apparel. With her interest in continuous learning, she dedicated time to understanding legal clearances and intellectual property evidence to provide quality feedback to NHL partners during the QC review process. She evaluates pre-production samples daily to assess the use of colors, logos, and trademark designations. JaEL believes in the benefits of educating herself on the ins and outs of other departments to improve her workflow.     JaEl loves the camaraderie of NHL employees. She appreciates sharing and comparing career stories with her colleagues and learning about their similarities. She hopes to expose those outside the department to the benefits of quality control and teach the value of the work they provide to all departments. Her team is highly integral to the management of NHL's brand and what the shield represents, and hopes to continue to see others do the same.    Join the League -> https://lnkd.in/eJYYc-gd         #NHLCareers #WomenInSports #HumansOverHighlights #EmployeeSpotlight

  • Meet Alexander de la Osa (He/Him), Legal Clerk    In fourth grade, Alex already had his sights set on law school. While applying to college, Alex discovered sport management as a major at the University of Florida and realized he could work at the intersection of his two interests, sports and the legal field. New York City was not on the map for Alex as he finished law school in New Orleans. However, when he came across the Legal Clerk position for the National Hockey League, Alex knew it was exactly the opportunity he had been hoping for and jumped at the opportunity to gain early in-house legal experience with a robust legal team.     As a legal clerk, Alex finds every day unique. The two-year program operates in a rotational cycle, allowing each legal clerk to gain experience in each subject-matter  group area of the legal department. The program allows him the opportunity to discover his interests within the sports legal space. Alex has enjoyed his work with the intellectual property team where he has developed a wide range of skills, from drafting creator agreements, to managing licenses and even more confidential matters. It’s not uncommon for Alex to see the tangible product of his work through NHL social media and productions.     As a Florida native, Alex experienced his first NYC winter during the 2024-25 season. He enjoys the surreal experience of working in the NHL’s brand-new office building with 360º views of Manhattan. He also enjoys attending spur-of-the-moment hockey games with friends and colleagues. Alex hopes to create the best work product he can each day and give back to the organization as much as he is getting out of the program.    Join the League -> https://lnkd.in/eJYYc-gd       #NHLCareers #HumansOverHighlights #EmployeeSpotlight
