In cities across the country, local agencies are turning to drones to improve emergency response. Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs allow law enforcement to launch drones immediately after a 9-1-1 call is received, delivering real-time visuals to officers and dispatchers before they arrive on scene. Join our upcoming webinar with Skydio and local leaders from City of Wichita Kansas. Discover Wichita's firsthand experience launching a citywide drone program and the impact it’s already having on emergency response, public safety and community trust. Last week, NLC was proud to join Experience Puerto Rico 2025 in San Juan to celebrate the conference’s 10th anniversary. Our members — Cherelle Parker for Mayor of City of Philadelphia, Mayor Mark Shepherd of Clearfield City Hall and NLC President Mayor Steve Patterson of Athens, OH — took the stage to share how cities are advancing housing solutions and to spotlight the Housing Supply Accelerator and the America’s Housing Comeback campaigns. Municipio de San Juan welcomed fellow NLC members for a special discussion and networking event, where Daphne Barbeito, Economic Development Director, highlighted the municipality’s robust economic development agenda on behalf of Alcalde Miguel Romero. We were also grateful to meet directly with our members in Puerto Rico — connecting them with NLC program initiatives and national‑level networking opportunities. NLC is committed to supporting Puerto Rico’s municipalities from Washington, D.C. To learn more about getting involved with NLC, please join us for an exclusive webinar and Q&A session for Puerto Rican municipalities on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM.
