The two co-founders of Naturalizing New Hope, Diana Williams and Pamm Kerr, are on a mission to encourage residents to turn their gardens into quality wildlife habitat. 🌼🐝🦋 Their leadership has already inspired 70 community members to designate their properties as Certified Wildlife Habitats in under a year. Did you know a hammerhead shark uses its head to trap stingrays? 👀 They pin the stingray to the seafloor and use their mouths, which are on the underside of their heads. The shark's eye placement, on each end of its very wide head, allows it to scan a larger area than other sharks can. 🦈 Living creatures' bodies give off electrical signals, which are picked up by the special sensors on the prowling hammerhead. The shark hunts alone and can find stingrays that hide under the sand on the seafloor. 🏖️ Want to learn more? 📲: https://lnkd.in/e2fTraT7 #sharkweek #hammerhead #shark #funfacts

Great white sharks count on the element of surprise as they hunt. 🦈 When they see a seal at the surface of the water, sharks will often position themselves underneath the seal. Using their tails as propellers, they swim upward at a fast sprint, burst out of the water in a leap called a breach, and fall back into the water with the seal in their mouths. 👀 Fun Fact: After a big meal, they can last a month or two without another. 🍽️ Want to learn more? 📲: https://lnkd.in/e2fTraT7 #sharkweek #greatwhite #shark #funfacts

Did you know whale sharks spend nearly eight hours a day gulping around 10,000 gallons of ocean water? 👀 At nearly 40 feet long, they seem like they could eat whatever they want. But they’re really after plankton—microscopic plants and animals. Smaller fish try to avoid the predators by swimming in a big ball for protection (but their massive mouths easily gulp them up). 🐋 Fun Fact: Whale sharks have tiny tooth-like scales that cover their eyeballs. One fish had 3,000 of them around its iris! 👁️ Want to learn more? 📲: https://lnkd.in/e2fTraT7 #sharkweek #whale #shark #funfacts
