Welcome back to #ForeignBodyFriday! Diesel presented to Dr. Kevin at Marcello Veterinary Hospital with chronic vomiting and lethargy. His owner saw him regurgitate pieces of a baby towel prior to his visit. Upon examination, it was suspected that Diesel had a Gastrointestinal Obstruction. Dr. Kevin and his team decided to operate on him to explore the extent of damage done. Upon inspection, his stomach and small intestine were severely bruised with multiple perforations (holes) along the intestinal tract. Dr. Kevin’s team decided it was best to remove a footlong section of his small intestine and put it back together (Resection and Anastomosis). A large chunk of baby towel was also removed from his stomach. The prognosis was not great. Recovery was tough for Diesel but we are so proud to say he is doing well, eating better everyday, and had his first bowel movement after 6 days.
