Decision-analytic models play a vital role in healthcare innovation, but they can be complex to build. So how can they be made more accessible in early-stage or data-limited research contexts? 🔎🏥 REPO4EU researchers from Maastricht UMC+ and Radboudumc took upon this challenge and are now proud to introduce SMART, a practical tool designed to empower innovators, researchers and decision-makers to create models tailored to the realities of healthcare innovation. Teebah Abu-Zahra طيبة أبوزهرة, Health Economics Researcher at Clinical Epidemiology & Medical Technology Assessment (KEMTA), led the development of the tool alongside other members of the REPO4EU consortium, including Sabine Grimm, Mirre Scholte and Manuela Joore. “As we looked through the existing literature and resources, we saw a growing gap in supporting decision models development in contexts where simplicity isn’t just a preference, but a necessity. In these scenarios, simple early-stage models can provide immense value, by highlighting unmet medical needs, estimating societal value and guiding early pricing discussions,” said Teebah.
