The Safeway Foundation is proud to launch our People with Diverse Abilities campaign this August! You can make a meaningful impact by donating at the check stand in Safeway stores across Northern California, Northern Nevada, and Hawaii. Your contributions will help support more than 20 organizations working to create inclusive opportunities, ranging from ability-specific camps for children to specialty services, employment training, and access to care and treatment for individuals with special needs throughout the NorCal Division. This month, we’re honored to recognize Kelly da Silva, a standout Store Director in San Jose, CA and proud member of NorCal's diverseABILITY Associate Resource Group.  

The Safeway Foundation was honored to sponsor the Special Olympics NorCal Summer Games held last weekend in Santa Clara, CA. Dozens of associates volunteered to escort athletes, assist with timekeeping, and cheer on some of our associates at the Track and Field competition. We were thrilled that Jennifer Hall, a 20-year Safeway employee in San Jose, served as an ambassador for the Special Olympics Summer Games.

Today, the Safeway Foundation in Northern California proudly partnered with Kellanova to present a $15,000 donation to the Lend a Hand Foundation in Oakland, CA, in support of their summer meals program. This generous contribution is made possible through our collaboration under Kellanova's Feed the Love program and our Foundation's Nourishing Neighbors program, dedicated to assist hunger relief efforts. Together, we're helping reduce food insecurity in our communities.

We are immensely proud of our commitment to community stewardship and supporting our neighbors in need through our Foundation's Nourishing Neighbors program. Our monthly series spotlighting our NorCal division store directors continues with yet another incredible individual who makes our company stronger every day. We’re honored to spotlight Brandon Norton, one of our outstanding Store Directors in Sunnyvale, CA and member of our Pride Alliance Associate Resource Group.

For nearly 60 years, Safeway has proudly served the Kailua community in Hawaii. This week, we celebrated the re-grand opening of our remodeled Aikahi Park location alongside Safeway leadership and valued community members.   A big mahalo to Store Director Deanna Data and her incredible team for their dedication and hard work. From fresh paint and décor to upgraded equipment and expanded departments, the store is better than ever!   In honor of this occasion, the Safeway Foundation donated $3,000 to the Kalaheo High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC), a gesture that reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the communities we serve.   We’re excited for the expanded offerings and hope you enjoy the enhanced shopping experience!

Safeway has proudly served Burlingame, CA for over 50 years. We recently celebrated our store's remodel with a fun-filled re-grand opening ceremony, joined by Safeway management, city and community leaders, and the Burlingame Chamber.   Special shout-out to Store Director America Tabarez and the amazing store team for their hard work! In honor of this occasion, the Safeway Foundation donated $5,000 to local non-profits, including CALL Primrose and Second Harvest of Silicon Valley   Our newly remodeled premium store features: 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶: A la carte hot bar, made-to-order tossed salads, and nigiri sushi. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺: Free in-store event planning for catering and special orders. 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱: Specialty beef products and premium oysters. 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿: Craft beer, cider, seltzer, ready-to-drink cocktails, and nearly 3,000 wines. Join our exclusive Wine, Spirits & Beer Club! 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘆: Scratch-made gourmet donuts, bagels, artisan breads, and sweet treats. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲: Extensive selection of organic items, including chili and organic tomato bars.   This remodel is the culmination of Safeway’s investment to enhance the shopping experience throughout the communities it serves. 

The Safeway Foundation in Northern California recently hosted its annual NorCal Open at Silverado Resort in Napa, CA, a day of great golf and even greater purpose. Thanks to the incredible support of our vendor partners, we raised an amazing $750,000 to support local hunger relief programs across Northern California, Hawaii, and Northern Nevada. These contributions will help provide meals, resources, and hope to our neighbors who need it most.   In support of this mission, we were thrilled to present a donation of $20,000 to Community Action of Napa Valley for their Meals on Wheels program and $15,000 to Feeding it Forward – Napa County for their food recovery program.   Thank you to everyone who participated. Together, we’re helping our neighbors in need.
