Phil Allen, our Lead Mechanical Engineer in Spacecraft Design, has significantly contributed to Terran Orbital's success during his five years with us. He finds immense motivation in seeing his hardware contribute to global connectivity, scientific research, and national protection. Collaborating with incredible teammates across disciplines has made the work even more meaningful, leading to innovative solutions for complex challenges. One of Phil's favorite memories over the past five years is witnessing the deployment of Terran Orbital's first microsatellite, Runner. Leading the design, qualification testing, and integration of the 4-point separation mechanism, Phil felt immense pride as it performed flawlessly. This mechanism has since been successfully used on other missions such as Tranche 0, with plans for future missions. Beyond the technical achievements, Phil cherishes mentoring and developing a team of mechanical engineers who now lead impactful programs. These experiences have shaped him as an engineer and leader, deepening his appreciation for the fast-paced, ever-evolving world of space technology. Phil is excited for the challenges and discoveries still to come, driving progress alongside a talented and collaborative team.
