About us

Founded in 1986, Texas Oncology is a pioneer in high quality community-based cancer care. Texas Oncology is an independent oncology practice with more than 530 physicians and 280 locations across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. Texas Oncology’s community-based approach of integrated oncology care enables patients to receive leading-edge treatment while living at home near the critical support of family and friends. Texas Oncology patients also have the opportunity to participate in some of the most promising national clinical trials for a broad range of cancers. Texas Oncology is the primary participant in US Oncology Research, and has played a role in the development of nearly 100 FDA-approved cancer-fighting drugs, about one-third cancer therapies approved by the FDA to date.

At The Network, we relentlessly drive forward public policy that helps protect community oncology care and allow it to thrive. Recently, our Public Policy team joined Texas Oncology at the Texas State Capitol for meetings with legislators to discuss how to make cancer care more affordable, accessible, and patient-centered. We focused on: ✅ Facilitating patient choice and access to safe care by addressing prior authorizations, step therapy, and patient steerage ✅ Expanding access to telemedicine, cancer screenings, and genetic counseling ✅ Supporting initiatives that enhance quality of life and the emotional impacts of cancer This event also gave us the opportunity to honor Debra Patt, MD PhD MBA, Medical Director of Public Policy at The Network, with the inaugural Physician Advocacy Champion Award—recognizing her outstanding commitment to engaging policymakers on behalf of community oncology. Thank you to everyone who participated! Read more about our Advocacy Day here: https://lnkd.in/gAFcMvzB #CommunityOncology #PatientAdvocacy #OncologyPolicy

  • Our own Kathryn Hudson, M.D., Director of Survivorship at Texas Oncology, shares vital insights on cancer survivorship in this important article. Cancer treatment doesn't end when the last bell rings. Dr. Hudson emphasizes that symptoms like fatigue and sleep disturbances are common among survivors—and there's help available. 💪 "Exercise can be one way to help reduce your level of fatigue and improve your sleep," says Dr. Hudson. "Don't be afraid to reach out to other specialists who could help with these symptoms so that you can have a better quality of life." The article also highlights often-overlooked challenges survivors face, from fertility concerns to "chemo brain." Dr. Hudson notes that oncologists should discuss fertility preservation more frequently, as treatment decisions made quickly during diagnosis can have lasting impacts. At Texas Oncology, we're committed to supporting you through every stage of your cancer journey—including life after treatment. 💙 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/g3jVKsu6

  • We're incredibly proud of Stephanie Y. Terauchi, M.D., FAAHPM, one of our dedicated palliative medicine physicians who recently founded My Final Wish, Inc. - a nonprofit that grants meaningful wishes to terminally ill adults to celebrate life and legacy. Last month, Dr. Terauchi granted the organization's very first wish, sending Texas Oncology patient Kara and her husband Bill on an unforgettable trip to Kauai. From sunset cruises along the Na Pali Coast to helicopter tours and authentic luaus, every moment was filled with joy and precious memories. This is the heart of what we do at Texas Oncology - caring for our patients extends far beyond treatment. We're honored to have physicians like Dr. Terauchi who go above and beyond to bring hope, joy, and meaningful experiences to those who need it most. #TexasOncology #MyFinalWish #PatientCare

We believe community oncology practices have the opportunity to be catalysts for innovation when it comes to cancer care. Over the years, we've been privileged to see practices in The Network spearheading significant advances in how we treat cancer. One promising new study is the EMBER-3 trial, whose key investigators included Dr. Joyce O'Shaughnessy of Texas Oncology. Phase III of this study, presented at ASCO 2025, looked at patient-reported outcomes for the novel oral selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD) imlunestrant (imlu) in patients with estrogen receptor–positive, HER2-negative (ER+/HER2−) advanced breast cancer. The trial showed that imlu, both alone and in combination with abemaciclib, improved progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with ESR1 mutations (ESR1m). It also preserved or improved quality-of-life scores compared to standard endocrine therapy.
