The FSP recently reviewed and analyzed the Trump Accounts provision of the newly-enacted One Big Beautiful Bill Act. These accounts are modified traditional Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) that are available to all children under 18, as early as birth, who have a Social Security number. The FSP’s article highlights the key aspects of the Trump Account policy, including further eligibility requirements, contributions, eligible investments, and distributions. Here are a few important takeaways.   1. The acknowledgement by Congress and the White House that it is a great idea to start saving and investing as early as birth for one’s entire life. 2. The possibility of Trump Accounts to deliver meaningful start-up capital to young adults to brighten their financial futures. 3. Trump Accounts present the opportunity to scale up financial education and capability among young people. 4. “Becoming a father at 15 didn’t just change my life. It awakened my purpose,” shares Dr. Clinton Boyd, Jr., Ascend Fellow, researcher at Chapin Hill, and executive director of Fathers, Families, & Healthy Communities (FFHC). Boyd was recently in conversation with Ascend at the Aspen Institute about fatherhood and his newly co-authored report, Breaking the Chains: Reclaiming Wealth, Power, and Dignity for Black Men.     The report, developed against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, explores how the pandemic affected Black men and fathers in Chicago. States Boyd, “Men talked about the shame of not being able to provide, the pain of being separated from their kids during lockdown, and the emotional weight of feeling invisible in systems that claim to serve everyone.
