🌳 New EUDR Guidance Published — Key Takeaways for Companies The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) aims to ensure that products placed on the EU market are deforestation-free and legally produced — covering commodities like cattle, timber, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy, and rubber. By doing so, it addresses one of the biggest drivers of climate change and biodiversity loss. The European Commission has now officially published the Guidance Document for the EUDR. It clarifies crucial terms like "negligible risk" or "supply chain complexity" and defines when and how detailed the risk assessment must be. It also explains how the EUDR interacts with the broader EU CSDDD. If the rules of the deforestation regulation and CSDDD overlap, the deforestation regulation applies, since it’s more specific. For operators and traders dealing with EUDR-relevant products, the guidance is vital — especially with approaching deadlines for entry into application: 30 December 2025 for larger operators and 30 June 2026 for micro and small enterprises.    💡 Did you know? 🤝 Strengthening collaboration between the German Helpdesk and the RBH Network This week, the Responsible Business Helpdesks (RBHs) from Serbia (Privredna komora Srbije | Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia), Türkiye (TÜRKONFED - Türkische Dachverband Unternehmen und Geschäftsleute), Cambodia (EuroCham Cambodia) and Bangladesh (Brand BGMEA) met with the German Helpdesk Wirtschaft und Menschenrechte to share experience and deepen partnerships. The discussion focused strongly on regulatory developments — particularly the EUDR, where both organisations observe increasing company requests and interest in comparison to the CSDDD.  Another learning of by both organisations is that a risk-based approach in terms of buyer-supplier relations is not yet comprehensively visible. The opportunities for a reduced burden on the supplier side – for instance through a risk-based audit system – is not yet materializing. Instead, many suppliers face additional requirements and one-size-fits all solutions of their EU customers.
