Providers in risk adjusted models may have an EHR pulling data from a problem list that is not an active problem. This can trigger coding applied by the EHR, not noticed by the provider and not reviewed by a coder before being submitted. Education is vitally important. After attending a long, information packed Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) Healthcare Basic Compliance Academy last week in Nashville, TN with very experienced and knowledgeable Instructors, I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) from Compliance Certification Board (CCB)®! 🎉🏆 To say that the exam was challenging is an understatement, but by the Grace of God 🙌🏾, my supportive Older Sister Tia Harley, MBA, PMP for sponsoring me, the support of my awesome Leader Terrie B. Estes, CHC, CHPC, CCEP, PMP and colleague Rajma Johnson, MBA, LSSGB, the Compliance 101 Handbook written by two of the Academy Instructors Debbie Troklus and Sheryl Vacca, MS, RN, CCEP-F, CCEP-I, CHC-F, CHRC, CHPC, in addition to all that I learned from the other Academy Instructors (Betsy Wade, MPH, CHC, CHPC, CNA Lea Fourkiller Dwight Claustre, CHC-F, CHRC, CHPC Steven Ortquist and Gabriel Imperato), I was successful on my first attempt!
