The Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program had a week of exciting events as we prepare for the upcoming semester. On Tuesday, we welcomed 45 new graduate students at orientation. We look forward to the knowledge, innovation, and contributions they will bring to the program and to The University of Texas at Dallas. On Friday, our graduate student community came together to celebrate the start of the semester with food, fellowship, and a special visit from Temoc! We are excited for a successful semester and all that our students will accomplish! Whoosh! #mechanicalengineering #universityoftexasatdallas #graduateschool #community

Congratulations also to Dr. Mark Spong who received the IFAC Robotics Lifetime Achievement Award this summer. Spong is well-known for his contributions to robotics and control systems modeling and teaching. Remarkably, IFAC recognized two Jonsson School systems engineering faculty with lifetime achievement awards in the same year. “Systems Engineering as well as all of UT Dallas are so lucky to have these two as colleagues and friends," said Dr. Stephen Yurkovich, professor and department head. https://lnkd.in/gXx2kF9v

We were honored to welcome City of Richardson Texas Mayor Amir Omar to this Summer's UTDesign Expo! As Mayor Amir put it, "What's exciting about what's going on here is this is a concentrated version of Richardson's legacy. We had innovation and entrepreneurship happen in Richardson, and you have the opportunity to see dozens of young innovators and their projects that can be used to meet the objectives of the city. I'm incredibly proud to see what the students are doing." The Summer UTDesign Expo brought together brilliant minds from across Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at UT Dallas to showcase senior design projects — solutions spanning engineering, technology, and design that address real-world industry and community challenges. It was a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving at its finest. A huge thank you to the dedicated staff, faculty, and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event such a success. Your hard work ensures our students shine and our community thrives. #UTDesignExpo #RichardsonTX #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #CommunityImpact #UTDallas
