About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Accounting Manager to join our finance team and serve as a subject matter expert on complex accounting matters. This role will be responsible for researching, interpreting, and implementing accounting guidance, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal controls. You will partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, and Operations to support strategic initiatives, M&A activity, and new product launches while leading technical accounting projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and analyze complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), business combinations (ASC 805), equity-based compensation, and debt/equity transactions.
Prepare and maintain accounting position memos and technical documentation to support conclusions in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.
Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure policies and procedures are updated accordingly.
Partner with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits, providing technical accounting guidance and documentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess accounting implications of contracts, transactions, and new business initiatives.
Provide training and mentorship to accounting staff on technical accounting topics and best practices.
Support SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) including footnote preparation and MD&A input.
Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, internal controls, and compliance procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA required).
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 public accounting and/or technical accounting roles in industry.
Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) preferred.
Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex accounting matters clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
