We are looking for a dedicated Associate General Counsel to join our legal team on a long-term contract basis. This position is based in Vienna, Virginia, and offers an opportunity to handle a diverse range of legal matters, with a strong focus on litigation and corporate governance. Responsibilities:
• Handle litigation matters, including reviewing pleadings, motions, and attending depositions.
• Manage legal claims such as motor vehicle accidents, independent contractor disputes, and property damage issues.
• Collaborate with external counsel appointed through insurers to develop defense strategies.
• Support corporate governance by addressing legal risks and ensuring compliance.
• Assist with commercial transactions, including negotiating and drafting contracts.
• Provide guidance on labor and employment matters, including workers' compensation claims and wage and hour disputes.
• Partner with internal teams to address unfair practices in the labor space.
• Offer strategic advice to senior leadership on legal challenges and opportunities.
• Maintain a proactive approach to mitigating legal risks across the organization.
• 3-5 years of experience as a corporate generalist with strong litigation expertise. • Demonstrated ability to handle civil litigation and insurance defense cases. • Proficiency in managing commercial contracts and conducting contract negotiations. • Solid understanding of corporate governance and corporate law. • Experience with motor vehicle claims and property damage disputes. • Familiarity with labor and employment law, including workers' compensation and wage disputes. • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external counsel. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide timely legal support.
