Compensation: $95,000 – $110,000
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our leadership team. This role is central to managing all financial operations of the firm with precision, transparency, and integrity. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in law firm accounting, billing, accounts payable, and cash receipts, while also serving as a key liaison with our Chief Operating Officer and external accountant.
This is a high-impact, in-office role that requires both strategic insight and day-to-day operational leadership in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership
Oversee all general ledger activity, billing, accounts payable, and cash receipts
Ensure accurate coding and classification of financial transactions
Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
Prepare and oversee monthly internal financial statements, monthly/quarterly closings, and year-end processes
Collaboration & Support
Partner with the COO on financial strategy and firm operations
Provide backup support for Accounts Payable/Receivable functions
Serve as the main point of contact for the firm’s external accountant
Systems & Technology
Manage and optimize accounting platforms (Center Base)
Lead system upgrades and provide staff training
Strategic Financial Planning
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Present financial insights and recommendations to firm leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA not required)
3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
Mastery of legal billing systems and accounting platforms
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and team collaboration
Compensation & Benefits
$95,000 – $110,000 base salary
