JOB TITLE: Data Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for supporting Federal Aviation Administrative (FAA) initiatives through data

Analytics That Involve The Following Duties

  • Software development and database management, with responsibilities including: utilizing Python, Java and/or high-level languages such as C#, C++ in database; utilizing FAA flight and trajectory databases such as Aviation System Performance Metrics (ASPM), Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS), Performance Data Analysis and Reporting System (PDARS), National Offload Program (NOP) radar data, Terminal Arrival Efficiency Rate (TAER); using traditional RDBMS and Big Data systems/tools, e.g. Apache Hadoop, NoSQL; using modern software development concepts and technologies, including Object-Oriented (OO) and Service Oriented Architectures (SOA); and data pipeline management, ETL/ELT, and data/system architectures.
  • Data analysis, with responsibilities including: formulating and applying mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions; collecting and analyzing data and developing decision support software, service, and products; analyzing data and recognizing errors in large, complex data sets; diagnosing root causes of issues and develop plans for error correction; applying statistical analysis techniques and tools; using modeling and simulation tools and methods, including programming in Matlab, R, or other modeling tools/languages; trajectory data analysis and management; development of streamlined backend data architectures to support rapid analytics. Data visualization, with responsibilities including: using data visualization tools such as Tableau and ArcGIS.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The minimum requirements are a bachelor's degree in software engineering,

computer science, or closely related technical field, and three years (3) of experience as a business analyst, data

analyst, or project coordinator. The three (3) years of experience must have involved using various methodologies

including Agile and Waterfall in the Software Development Life Cycle, using data visualization tools such as

Tableau and ArcGIS, and advance use of Microsoft Office Tool Suite and Excel. New hires subject to background

check. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is permitted.

SALARY: $148,221.00 - $160,000.00 per year.
