Nursing Manager - $5,000.00 SIGN ON BONUS
POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Nursing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the delivery of health services for clients of The Children's Center of Hamden as defined by their treatment program. This position is additionally responsible for making nursing diagnosis of actual or potential health problems, collaborating in the implementation of the medical treatment regimen under the direction of a licensed Physician, Physician’s Assistant, Advanced Practice Nurse or Dentist. The employee is also responsible for ensuring a safe environment conducive to the treatment of individuals at The Children's Center of Hamden. This individual is responsible for the hiring, training and scheduling of nurses. In addition, the employee is responsible for ensuring the appropriate supervision and progressive discipline for these employees. The Nursing Supervisor is expected to maintain appropriate personal boundaries with all people while on shift, is expected to be sensitive to a culturally diverse population, and is expected to perform other related duties as assigned. Accountable And Responsible For The Following Results
Hires, trains, and schedules staff RNs, LPNs, Medical Assistants and DCF Medication Certified Staff in the performance of medication administration.
Develops and implements appropriate medical care for young people.
Creates a positive work environment for staff by attending to morale issues, training needs and system issues.
Ensures nursing team members are deployed to the programs within the Children’s Center
Coordinates admissions to congregate care programs with the VP of Clinical Services
Provides for health education to meet staff and client needs.
Serves on the Safety Committee
On call for emergencies.
Maintains records including medical files, DCF reports and any other documentation needed.
Monitors and ensures that all training for employees in their department is up to date.
Develops and monitors policies and strategies to provide ongoing assessment and maintenance of a safe environment for youth and families served in the program. Presents continuing education programs for staff on infection prevention and control.
Responds to questions by personnel in the clinic, and other programs and conducts informal, education, as needed. Also provides “just in time” education to patients.
Conducts continuous surveillance for detecting the infection source for prevention.
Ensures the availability of supplies and place needed for potential for isolation.
Follows up and investigates the incidents of client infections, generating reports and reports them to the Chief Medical Officer and the Director of Nursing.
Monitors the execution of preventive measures and provides guidance to staff.
Ensures that all documentation required to meet regulatory standards is up to date, organized and available in coordination with the Quality and Compliance Officer.
May participate in immunization efforts as needed.
Maintains all required agency mandatory trainings.
Participates in staff and departmental meetings, in-service training programs, and attends meetings as required, workshops, and conferences. Effectively utilizes supervision
Maintains appropriate personal boundaries with young people and families served at The Children's Center of Hamden. Adheres to The Children’s Center of Hamden’s Boundary Code of Ethics.
Performs any other related work assigned.
Is aware of the Policy and Procedure Manuals and can access information as needed.
Demonstrates sensitivity and awareness regarding cultural diversity as it relates to the client population.
Provides comprehensive medical support services per agency policy including issues of cultural diversity.
Maintains care, welfare, safety, and security of the children by reporting conditions which are or could be considered safety hazards.
The nursing supervisor will be needed as RN coverage. When working in the capacity as an RN the nursing supervisor will be paid their current hourly rate plus 20 dollars per hour. This rate becomes effective after working their regularly scheduled 37.5 hours worked.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. 3-5 years of clinical experience. 2 years of experience in a similar role is strongly preferred. Should be a highly energetic individual to develop teaching materials and training programs. Able to plan and obtain objectives to ensure the development of service. Knowledge of techniques for data collection and analysis, detail-oriented and organized. Able to conduct training seminars and exercises. Knowledge of nursing/clinical practice and theory. Excellent analysis and statistical collation skills. Able to lead staff and influence them. Able to work alone and as part of a team. Excellent written, interpersonal, time management and presentation skills. Flexibility to meet a wide range of service needs.
