The Payment Poster works directly under the Coding Manager. Job duties include extensive administrative work within the Electronic Medical Record system, posting payments, and other assignments as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Posting payments, adjusting patient accounts, ensuring a daily balance of all payments
Reviews explanation of benefits to assure proper payment and adjustment posting
Additional duties or project work as needed, assigned by Coding Manager
Skills And Abilities
Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations, strong mathematical and accounting skills
Ability to post both electronic and manual payments
Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations as it pertains to patient information
Proficiency in Microsoft suite
Ability to work independently
Ability to approach problems/decisions analytically
Expert knowledge of insurance payment processing
Must be reliable and able to work under periods of high volume and strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy
Ability to work as a team player and comfortable asking questions and take direction from Supervisor and Director
Solid time management skills/ ability to prioritize projects
Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor
Experience/Educational Requirements
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required, Associate degree or higher preferred
EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience with payment posting or an equivalent combination of two years' experience and education required. EMR payment posting experience required.
LICENSURE: No License or certification is required.
