✨ Czech Innovation Steals the Spotlight at EXPO 2025. At this year's EXPO in Osaka, the Czech Republic is highlighting one such project: Caviplasma. Developed by a team from Brno University of Technology, Masaryk University, and the Czech Academy of Sciences, this unique technology uses a combination of low-temperature plasma and hydrodynamic cavitation to purify large volumes of water. 💧 What makes CaviPlasma a game-changer? While similar lab-scale devices exist, this one can process up to 15,000 liters per hour, effectively removing everything from chemical pollutants to bacteria and viruses. 🤝 The technology is already being commercialized by a Czech company, with the goal of integrating it into wastewater treatment plants.

Behind the scenes at ILMAC 2025: building a booth for Promega Switzerland ♻️ Trade shows are not only about visibility – they are also a chance to show values. This booth is a great example: designed entirely from recyclable and reusable materials, it proves that sustainability and creativity can go hand in hand. I’m proud to have supported the setup of this stand. Watching it come together was inspiring – Promega Switzerland once again shows how innovation in life sciences also extends to how science is presented. 👏 Kudos to the Promega team for leading the way with sustainable booth concepts. 💬 What do you think – should sustainable booths become the new standard at trade shows? #ILMAC2025 #Sustainability #Biotech #LifeSciences #EventMarketing #Solunion #Promega

Is the Safe and Sustainable by Design framework (#SSbD) too complex? Here's how we are making it work in practice. The DESIDERATA project is demystifying the EU's Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework by testing it across real industrial applications. Through our systematic approach, we are transforming the guidelines into practical #implementation strategies. Our three-phase approach simplifies SSbD implementation: 1. Re-design Phase: We establish clear boundaries and goals for each use case, ensuring regulatory compliance with #REACH, #CLP, and #EcoLabel requirements from the start. 2. Implementation Phase: Using an iterative "cradle-to-grave" assessment, we test materials in parallel for both hazard profiles and sustainability metrics, benchmarking against conventional processes. 3. Refinement Phase: We identify gaps, eliminate redundancies, and develop solutions specifically accessible to #SMEs. The SSbD framework should enable innovation. By testing the framework across five diverse industrial cases (from lubricants to construction materials), we are: • Creating practical tools that work for businesses of all sizes • Building bridges between regulatory requirements and industrial needs • Developing feedback mechanisms that improve the framework itself Our collaboration with 16 partners ensures these solutions are tested, validated, and ready for real-world application. What challenges have you faced implementing sustainability frameworks? Share your experiences below: your insights help shape better tools for everyone. About DESIDERATA DESIDERATA is a Horizon Europe Innovation Action bringing together 16 partners across 13 European countries to advance safe and sustainable chemical innovations. Led by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), the project combines multidisciplinary collaboration, cutting-edge research, industry expertise, and policy development to transform chemical and material manufacturing in Europe. This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Research and Innovation program under grant agreement N° 101178011 and from the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI.
