TIC Council has published its position paper on the revision of the New Legislative Framework (#NLF) – the backbone of EU product legislation and the key set of rules governing accreditation and conformity assessment.    💡 Why is the NLF important? It reinforces the application of internal market rules by: 🔹 Setting clear and transparent rules for the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies. 🔹 Strengthening market surveillance to protect consumers and professionals. 🔹 Boosting confidence in conformity assessment through stronger requirements for notification. 🔹 Creating a consistent horizontal toolbox for product legislation.   To deliver a framework that is truly fit for the future, the revision should: 1️⃣ Make voluntary accreditation more flexible: allow Conformity Assessment Bodies to obtain accreditation from any National Accreditation Body, not only in their country of establishment. 2️⃣ Ensure accreditation is consistent and reliable: address gold-plating, improve responsiveness, and promote clustering among Accreditation Bodies, notably for emerging technologies. 3️⃣ Introduce a new conformity assessment module for validation and verification (e.g. for sustainability and digital claims).   🔗 Read our full recommendations here: https://lnkd.in/d7VuvWgu
