UCB highlights unmet needs in remote care for DEE, recommends OT certification

We deeply appreciate UCB for bringing to light the significant unmet needs faced by countless adults in remote residential care with Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathies. It truly highlights how a focus solely on seizure and medication management can often miss the crucial holistic issues that profoundly impact an individual's well-being. Recognizing that care needs to be #morethanseizures is essential for providing comprehensive support to everyone. For those dedicated to offering truly integrated care and enhancing quality of life for many people, we highly recommend our `Occupational Therapy` certification. This program equips professionals with vital skills to empower individuals to participate more fully in daily life, addressing adaptive strategies and overall well-being: https://lnkd.in/ecMg_x8T Furthermore, to specifically address the critical need for broadening our understanding of holistic care for complex neurological conditions in residential settings, we are developing a new course. This upcoming program, `Comprehensive Holistic Care for Neurological and Developmental Encephalopathies`, will provide advanced strategies for countless professionals to nurture overall quality of life, looking beyond immediate symptoms to truly support every individual.

While much progress has been made in diagnosing developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs), UCB research presented at #IEC shows that a high unmet need remains for adults in remote residential care settings. Primary care physicians or general neurologists tend to focus on seizure and medication management and may overlook holistic issues, which can be a barrier to diagnostic referral. UCB’s Beatriz Rodriguez Solis outlines how broadening our understanding of DEEs to #MoreThanSeizures can provide holistic care. https://lnkd.in/gd4Pt6Et
