🚀 TCS Establishes New AI & Services Transformation Unit
👨💼 Leadership: Veteran Amit Kapur (with 26+ years at TCS) is appointed as the Chief AI and Services Transformation Officer, effective September 1st. He will report directly to President & COO Aarthi Subramanian. He is succeeded
by Vinay Singhvi as the head of the UK & Ireland business.
🔄 Objective: To move away from a previously cautious approach and aggressively scale AI impact across the company and for clients. This is a direct response to more aggressive competitors like Accenture and Cognizant.
🔧 Key Functions of the New Unit:
Integration: Will consolidate all existing AI teams and capabilities, including the current AI & Cloud business unit.
Collaboration: Will work closely with horizontal service units and industry business groups.
Innovation: Focus on reinvigorating service propositions, deepening AI domain solutions, building new partnerships, and accelerating AI-powered delivery in operations and engineering.
Client Engagement: Leverage global TCS Pace Ports to demonstrate real-world AI possibilities to customers.
📉 Organizational Restructuring: This move is part of a larger transformation strategy announced in July. As part of this, TCS will lay off ~2% of its workforce (middle & senior grades) this financial year to become more agile. Affected employees will be offered reskilling, benefits, and transition support.
🎯 Overall Goal: To future-proof the organization, adapt to changing client needs, and ensure TCS is a leader in the AI-led disruption of the tech services industry.
