Developers are increasingly adopting grid-forming (GFM) batteries to cut costs and open new revenue streams across the NEM. The decline of synchronous generation is reshaping how the grid stays stable and is driving demand for assets that can provide their own system strength and inertia. GFM batteries can self-remediate their impact on the network, allowing them to avoid expensive system-strength charges. They are also beginning to earn out-of-market income through network support contracts, as transmission operators award more inertia and system-strength services to batteries. This collaboration with Eaton is an exciting milestone for the rollout of Xendee Operate. I'm happy to share that my paper entitled "An Agent Based Model Applied to a Local Energy Market (LEM) Considering Demand Response (DR) and Its Interaction with the Wholesale Market (WSM)" has been published in IEEE Xplore. The paper proposes an Agent-Based Model using Q-Learning to simulate Local Energy Markets integrated with Demand Response programs. By shifting consumption to periods of high renewable generation or storage, it aims to reduce energy costs and increase community profits. The model was validated with real consumption and PV generation data.
