A recent Utility Dive piece highlights how New York is embedding GETs, like Dynamic Line Ratings, into grid planning to unlock capacity, improve reliability, and manage rising demand. At Prisma Photonics we see this shift firsthand. Our collaboration with the New York Power Authority (NYPA) has already proven how quickly GETs can be deployed when you don’t need to install sensors on towers or lines. Using existing optical fiber, our PrismaPower system continuously monitors transmission lines in real time - detecting icing, electrical faults, and partial discharges across the full line, the result: faster deployments, lower costs, and a safer, more resilient grid. NYPA’s project with Prisma Photonics even earned the American Public Power Association (APPA) Energy Innovator Award, showing the impact of combining forward-looking policy with practical, field-tested solutions. As states push to accelerate capacity expansion, GETs and fiber-based continuous monitoring offer a proven path to more power, delivered safely and quickly. https://lnkd.in/d6Aakd-7 #gets #dlr #energytransition #GridOperations #dynamiclinerating #gridenhancingtechnologies
