AI innovation theatre is real and costly. Nearly 60% of enterprise AI projects stall before scaling. Why? Fragmented systems, siloed data, and misaligned leadership. In my latest article, I discuss a roadmap to move beyond the pilot trap: Invest in plumbing before prototypes, align the C-suite around a single ambition and treat every pilot as a path to production. Thanks for sharing Ismail Amla Great insights! Indeed AI stand alone isn’t a magic pill or a silver bullet that’ll solve all challenges for any business. Yes it certainly has the potential to but only if it is implemented right. In a recent CXO roundtable I hosted with a dozen executives at F100 firms, everyone had the same concern -too much time, effort, & money is going to AI initiatives but the RoI hasn’t been there, just yet! My view is that AI like any of the past key technology revolutions be it Internet, Digital, IoT, Cloud can only yield the outcomes we desire if it’s done right. And for it companies must “Let’s Tune Out The Noise…And Get Back To The Basics”. 4 key pillars that companies need to focus on for the right AI implementation and achieve desired outcomes: 1. Brand Strategy! - A critical and foundational element… but often forgotten. - Define WHY! 2. Data Insights/Analytics!- The new gold!(Always was...now more powerful than ever)- Understand WHATs been happening… WHAT it should be 3. Experience/Processes! - The make it or break it aspect! - Identify WHERE shift is needed. 4. DNA/People - The most important asset for any business! - The WHO drives the change… and for WHOM…
Ismail Amla Spot on. Many organizations treat AI as a tech project instead of a transformation, overlooking change management , workforce readiness and most importantly cultural readiness.

Very well said, Ismail Amla, you have captured the core challenge with precision. To truly realise their AI ambition statement, organisations must first ensure they have the right data foundation. This means not just identifying data sources, but transforming and scaling existing infrastructure, applications, and tools to make that data accessible, connected, and usable. Equally important is cultivating a culture that embraces AI, where teams are empowered to understand and apply its capabilities meaningfully. This journey must be phased and deliberate, guided by clearly defined KPIs at each stage. Rushing ahead due to FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) often leads to fragmented efforts and missed opportunities. Only after laying this groundwork should organisations introduce AI capabilities aligned to their strategic goals. When done right, AI moves beyond experimentation and becomes a true driver of transformation, delivering measurable impact across operations, customer experience, and innovation.
