A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending a Multidisciplinary Airway Management Workshop presented by Cheerful Dental. It was an invaluable opportunity to learn alongside experienced health professionals about the complex interplay between airway issues, malocclusion, sleep, dentofacial development, and speech—and why an interdisciplinary approach is essential for supporting children and families. The speakers each brought unique insights from their fields: Angela Nikolas (Speech Pathologist) – highlighted the impact of oromyofunctional disorders on speech production, with practical strategies for assessment and treatment. Dr. John Rosa (Orthodontist) – emphasised the importance of early orthodontic intervention and its role in shaping healthy facial, jaw, and dental development. Dr. Virginia Oliveira (Paediatric Sleep Specialist) – shared her expertise on how airway function affects sleep quality, and how thorough assessment and intervention can change outcomes for children. Dr. Elina Castro (Dentist) – explored how airway issues and malocclusions can influence multiple senses, broadening our understanding of their wide-reaching effects. This workshop reinforced for me how vital it is that we, as clinicians, work together across disciplines. By combining expertise, we can provide more comprehensive, evidence-based care that truly addresses the whole child. A big thank you to Cheerful Dental for hosting such an engaging and insightful event. I left inspired and even more committed to fostering collaborative care in my own practice. #ProfessionalDevelopment #MultidisciplinaryCare #AirwayManagement #OrofacialMyology #SpeechPathology

I'm grateful for the work of Senator Laura Wakim Chapman, Joe Funkhouser, Amy Smith, DDS, MS, Governor Patrick Morrisey and others who worked to shape WV Senate Bill 710, defining an appropriate role for teledentistry in West Virginia. At the national level, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine has released updated standards, and Kevin Postol's recent article in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s Montage highlights the direction of care in this space: "Teledentistry is here to stay. But in dental sleep medicine, it is not an end-to-end solution. With clear standards in place and qualified dentists at the forefront, we can move forward with both innovation and accountability, ensuring that patients recieve care that's convenient, effective and safe."

💡 Be honest: Does your practice actually make money treating tinnitus? For most clinics, the answer is no. 👉 Counseling takes hours. 👉 It doesn’t generate significant revenue vs. product sales. 👉 Profit only comes if you convert them into hearing aid patients. It’s no wonder so many clinics avoid tinnitus altogether. Here’s the game-changer: Biometric Monitoring through our Modern Tinnitus Basecamp. 📊 Track sleep, activity, and heart rate variability — all biomarkers tied directly to tinnitus. ✅ Patients love it because they see real data on their progress. ✅ Clinicians love it because counseling becomes faster, easier, and more impactful. ✅ Practices love it because it creates new revenue without requiring hearing aid sales. At NYHD | Institute For Hearing & Balance in Manhattan, I’ve used the Modern Tinnitus Basecamp for nearly 2 years. The results? ⚡ Dramatically reduced counseling time ⚡ Patients finally “get it” when they see their data ⚡ A more profitable and sustainable tinnitus program 👉 If you’re ready to stop spinning your wheels and finally make tinnitus care profitable, let’s talk. 📅 Schedule a free discovery call today to learn how your clinic can become a Modern Tinnitus Specialty Center by clicking the link: https://lnkd.in/e65QX4p9 Cliff Olson

Candid video of the impact you can have on a patient. As dentists, we’re not just in the business of fixing teeth—we’re in the business of saving lives and strengthening relationships. Sleep apnea and snoring affect millions, leading to serious health risks, lower quality of life, and even broken relationships from “sleep divorce.” Here’s the exciting part: dentistry has the power to change that. With the right training, any dental practice can screen and treat sleep apnea and snoring using simple, proven systems that require no expensive equipment to get started. That’s why I created the RAD Sleep Program—to teach dentists and their teams how to: ✅ Screen patients effectively for snoring and sleep apnea ✅ Use turnkey systems that make medical billing and referrals seamless ✅ Deliver treatment that not only helps patients sleep better but also grows practice revenue, self-worth, and patient loyalty Adding sleep apnea treatment isn’t just another service—it’s a transformational shift for your practice, your patients, and your purpose. If you’re ready to make a bigger impact while growing your practice, let’s connect. Stay Rad, Dr. Rad

A significant development in the hearing industry, with health ministers agreeing to a major regulatory change for audiologists that will see the profession regulated in a similar way to optometrists by AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency). The move will be of interest to the eyecare sector, with optometry networks increasingly branching out into hearing care and employing audiologists within their practices. And it's another reason behind our decision to launch Insight Ophthalmic News's sister publication Hearing Practitioner Australia in 2024 (edited by Helen Carter) – as the two industries move closer together. https://lnkd.in/gBeSqdcU
