🔹 Did you know? The first industrial robot, Unimate, was installed in a General Motors factory back in 1961. 🚗🤖 It worked on the assembly line, moving hot metal parts that were too dangerous for humans. ➡️ Today, robots are not only in factories but also in medicine, logistics, agriculture, and even space exploration. 🌍 For us in mechatronics, this shows how combining mechanics, electronics, and programming can create solutions that change industries – and everyday life. #robotics #unimate #automatics #electronics #mechatronics #education #funfact #engineering #industrialrobots #robotdesign

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is everywhere these days. We see it in our phones when we talk to Siri or Google Assistant. It recommends videos on YouTube, movies on Netflix, and posts on TikTok. It powers self-driving cars, medical scanners, chatbots, and even creative tools that can paint pictures or write songs. But despite how common it has become, there is still a lot of confusion about what AI really is and what AI companies are trying to build. Some people imagine robots that will replace us. Others think of AI as a helpful tool, like a super-smart assistant. The truth is not so simple. To understand the goals of AI companies, we need to look at the different layers of what they are doing, what they hope to achieve, and why it matters to all of us. https://lnkd.in/g_gB2tss

Excited to share our Mechatronics project developed by team #intellivision. Together with Isuru Samarakkody and Ruwantha, we successfully designed and built an autonomous robot that: ✅ Navigates a predefined track by line following ✅ Detects and responds to four pillars using white LED indicators ✅ Carries a box and places it in a pre-assigned color-coded zone (Red, Green, or Blue) ✅ Uses programmable LED indicators to display the target zone A big thank you to the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, for guiding us throughout this journey. #Robotics #Mechatronics #Engineering #Automation #Innovation #Teamwork

It is a great pleasure to share that I have successfully completed my Master’s thesis at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – Department of Mechatronics, entitled: “Object Identification and Positioning through AI Techniques with the CR5 Robot.” 🎓🤖 This research presents the development of an intelligent system for object detection and manipulation using the Dobot CR5 collaborative robot and the Intel RealSense D435i camera. The study focuses on the role of computer vision in robotics, applying the YOLOv8 algorithm for real-time object detection. The practical part includes camera–robot calibration, integration of the DH Robotics gripper, and the demonstration of automated pick-and-place tasks. The results demonstrate that combining AI and collaborative robotics provides an effective solution for automation and industrial applications. Many thanks to Prof. Assoc. Dr. Xhevahir Bajrami for his valuable guidance throughout this journey. The entire process was both challenging and rewarding, and it demonstrated the real potential of combining AI-based vision systems with industrial robotics to solve practical automation tasks. #UniversityOfPrishtina #Mechatronics #ArtificialIntelligence #ComputerVision #Robotics #Automation #YOLOv8 #IntelRealSense #DobotCR5 #SmartManufacturing #Innovation

🚀 Student Robotics Innovation! Excited to share that one of my students has successfully designed and built an RC Car using robotics components including DC Motors, wheels, Qubits controller, and sensors. 🔹 The RC Car is powered by DC Motors for smooth driving and precise control. 🔹 The project demonstrates how students can integrate mechanical design, electronics, and programming into a functional robotics system. 🔹 With the addition of sensors (ultrasonic/IR), this RC Car can also move towards becoming a self-driving autonomous prototype. 💡 Key Learning: Hands-on robotics projects like this help students understand core concepts in motor control, power management, wireless communication, and automation. Proud of the creativity and dedication shown by the student! 👏 #Robotics #Engineering #STEM #Innovation #HandsOnLearning #RCcar #StudentProjects #DCMotor

Baymax from the movie Big Hero 6 was powered by super-capacitors. When that movie came out in 2014, such technology was assumed impossible and the work of fiction but now high capacity capacitors seem to be a decent alternatives to traditional batteries.

Being an enthusiast about Robotics, I am excited to share my progress in making my fully customized Self-Balancing Robo. The purpose of making this little robo was to learn the real use of microcontrollers in real-life projects. Another reason for building this little guy was to build it using locally available components that are cheaper in cost but can operate well. As these cheaper modules are not precise and have many flaws in them, this was a very challenging part for me, and also, the job of an Engineer is to make things possible using very less opportunities. ⚙How this little guy works: It works on the principle of an Inverted Pendulum. In my words, the principle says “the higher the height, the easier it is to balance.” What if we want to stabilize a pencil or a long stick on our finger? You can find the answer by yourself.
