Progress update from our ECE Robotics Lab I mini project at Texas Tech! Collaborating with Amna Malik and Jeremy Gillins, we have successfully programmed the MSP430f6989 microcontroller to move the rover forward and execute a right turn. Our setup uses an H-bridge to power the motors, while the microcontroller generates precise PWM signals to control movement. We also integrated over-current detection using a breadboard circuit, giving us an extra layer of hardware protection as we continue developing and testing. Excited to keep building on this progress as we work toward full functionality for the rover. #Robotics #EmbeddedSystems #ECE #TexasTech #Engineering

What I Learned in Robotics Engineering – My Certification Journey Today, I completed a certification course in Robotics Engineering, and honestly, it felt like opening a whole new world. From understanding the basics of robotics, diving into kinematics, exploring trajectory planning, and experimenting with sensors & computer vision, I realized robotics is not just about machines — it’s about connecting logic, movement, and intelligence into one system. I documented my learnings in detail covering: Foundations of Robotics Kinematics & Movement Trajectory Planning & Control Sensors & Computer Vision Integration, Skills & The Future For me, this was more than just theory — it was about seeing how small steps of knowledge can add up to something big. 👉 I’ve put everything together in one blog. I'm excited to share my latest robotics project! 🤖 I've been exploring the fascinating world of BEAM robotics, and I'm really proud of the progress I've made. My first two models, a single-servo walker and a two-servo, four-legged bot, are walking great. I've now integrated sensors into my new five-servo, four-legged design to allow it to advance autonomously. The journey from simple mechanics to sensor-driven movement has been a great learning experience. This project is a great example of how simple principles and a little creativity can lead to some incredible creations. It's an ongoing process, and I'm looking forward to seeing what it does next! 🚀 What Is BEAM Robotics? BEAM robotics is a style of robotics that focuses on simple, minimalist design and an analog approach to control. The term BEAM is an acronym for Biology, Electronics, Aesthetics, and Mechanics. The core principle of BEAM robotics is to create simple, autonomous robots that use basic analog circuits and components, rather than complex microcontrollers or software. These robots often mimic the behaviors of simple living organisms like insects, reacting to their environment using sensors like phototransistors (for light) or thermistors (for heat). Instead of being programmed with a series of commands, their behavior emerges from the direct interaction between their sensors, motors, and the environment, which is why your robot can walk and react to its environment without complex code. #BEAMRobotics #Robotics #Arduino #DIY #Engineering #Electronics #STEM #RoboticsProject

🔹 Did you know? The first industrial robot, Unimate, was installed in a General Motors factory back in 1961. 🚗🤖 It worked on the assembly line, moving hot metal parts that were too dangerous for humans. ➡️ Today, robots are not only in factories but also in medicine, logistics, agriculture, and even space exploration. 🌍 For us in mechatronics, this shows how combining mechanics, electronics, and programming can create solutions that change industries – and everyday life. #robotics #unimate #automatics #electronics #mechatronics #education #funfact #engineering #industrialrobots #robotdesign

Excited to share our Mechatronics project developed by team #intellivision. Together with Isuru Samarakkody and Ruwantha, we successfully designed and built an autonomous robot that: ✅ Navigates a predefined track by line following ✅ Detects and responds to four pillars using white LED indicators ✅ Carries a box and places it in a pre-assigned color-coded zone (Red, Green, or Blue) ✅ Uses programmable LED indicators to display the target zone A big thank you to the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, for guiding us throughout this journey. #Robotics #Mechatronics #Engineering #Automation #Innovation #Teamwork

A team, including researchers from MIT EECS, developed a new system relying on a single camera that watches a robot’s movements and uses that visual data to control it. By shifting from programming robots to teaching robots, their approach offers a pathway to more flexible and affordable machines. https://lnkd.in/gF4EBrbF

⚡ Boost Your Franka Research 3’s Performance in Just 5 Minutes! The Franka Research 3 robot arm comes factory-calibrated, but heavy force applications or collisions can sometimes cause decalibration. Starting from system image 5.8.0, you can now automatically recalibrate your robot directly in DESK, Franka Robotics’ control and monitoring interface. In this tutorial, Noyan Tillman Şahin, Software Engineer at Franka Robotics, demonstrates the full process in under 5 minutes - a simple step that can improve the robot arm’s performance. 👉 Watch the tutorial to see how quick and easy it is. 🎥 Watch more tutorials here: hhttps://lnkd.in/d_apj_xq 💬 Let us know in the comments which other tutorials you’d like to see. #FrankaRobotics #FrankaResearch3 #Calibration #Tutorials #Education #HumanRobotInteraction

I've been learning a lot about Industrial Automation lately, and all I have to say is that it's Artsy! Leonardo Da Vinci said: "To develop a complete mind: Study the science of art; Study the art of science. Learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else." And he couldn't have been more right about it. I recently completed two courses on ABB Robotics's RobotStudio Software where I've learned the basics of using industrial-grade robotics arms. In this video you can see the Palletizing PowerPac in action! An IRB460 Robot is responsible for adding the palette to the main conveyor belt and then starts palettizing the boxes quickly and neatly in a pre-defined pattern. Everything working in perfect harmony and coordination, this is Art! #Industrial #Automation #ABB #ABBRobotics #Robotstudio #IRB460 #palettizing #Conveyor
