Getting an ADHD diagnosis is only half the journey. This report from Healthwatch England illustrates how people may face an additional wait of up to 20 months before they can access medication. Titration and GP handovers often add further delays or costs, creating barriers to well-being, because the right treatment can make a profound difference in the life of people with ADHD. While not a replacement for conventional care, herbal medicine can offer a layer of support and help to calm the nervous system, promote sleep, or improve focus. For some, that can provide a sense of agency and relief while waiting for a diagnosis or titration. But, because herbal medicine can also only be accessed privately, this again might not be an option for everyone. Current care procedures for people with ADHD seem far from ideal, and Healthwatch's recommendations for change are needed.
People are facing long waits to get an ADHD diagnosis. However, our blog published today uncovers that they are also facing a second wait - to get the medication they need to help them manage their condition. https://lnkd.in/eSHresxn
