Agile isn’t failing because of the framework. It’s failing because the system around it isn’t built for it. 🚀 Agile Talks: Beyond Agility Topic: The Role of Leadership in Agile Transformation Agile isn’t just a team-level practice — it’s an organizational mindset shift. And here’s the truth: without the right leadership, Agile adoption often fails. 👉 Why Leadership Matters in Agile: 1️⃣ Vision & Alignment – Leaders set the direction so teams know why they are building, not just what. 2️⃣ Empowerment Over Control – Servant leadership means enabling teams, removing blockers, and trusting them to self-organize. 3️⃣ Cultural Shift Drivers – Leaders must role-model agility by embracing transparency, feedback, and adaptability. 4️⃣ Stakeholder Engagement – True agility requires leaders to foster collaboration between teams, customers, and business stakeholders. 🔑 Traditional vs Agile Leadership Traditional: Command & Control 🚫 Agile: Coach, Guide, Enable ✅ 💡 Pro Insight: Agile leadership is not about telling people what to do. 🚨 𝐀𝐠𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. Here’s the hard truth: - Most enterprises still run on hierarchy, silos, and control. - Meanwhile, Agile demands trust, empowerment, and collaboration. - The result? Teams are told to be “self-organizing,” but every decision still needs 5 approvals. That’s not agility, that’s theatre! 👉 Here I break down how culture clashes kill Agile before it even starts, and what leaders can do to fix it. 🎥 https://lnkd.in/exbPBKkQ If you’ve lived through an “Agile transformation,” what cultural barrier stood in the way the most? #Agile #Leadership #ProjectManagement #SecretsAtWork

Is lack of capacity limiting your ability to adopt? If you are finding that you can't keep up with everything. You are not alone. Agile is great for development and getting things done. The short cycle, minimum viable product approach allows you to test and get stuff out there. And here is the problem, just because you can, does not mean you should. Projects often use the wrong constraint. They use timed sprints or phases to optimizes development, but this does not cater for your (lack of) capacity for adoption. Shift the constraining factor from TIME to CAPACITY. Only produce what the organisation has capacity to adopt. Otherwise, the conveyor belt is delivering straight to the trash can. Need to build more capacity, then look at what your leaders are endorsing. #IrrationalChange #LeadershipDevelopment #ChangeLeadership #AdoptionMatters #CapacityBuilding

I worked in organizations with a strong business strategy to roll forward with hypothesis-driven development. Rather than arrogantly claiming that we have a crystal ball and can see into the future with 100% certainty (which is absolutely necessary for producing the "prioritized feature list," or, as we call it, the Big Upfront Plan), leadership adopts a more realistic approach whereby we move in small, nimble steps, executed very frequently (at the very least, deploying once a day). Each step proposes a hypothesis and results in validated learning. We cannot predict the future, but we can certainly learn how to navigate the treacherous waters of ever-shifting market forces. That's what agile is, in a nutshell. No Big Upfront Plan.
