What if the failure isn’t in your Agile approach — but in how the system is built to support it? Sometimes the real reason Agile stalls isn’t about the methodology at all. In this CIO Magazine article, I share the five silent friction points that derail transformation — from perfection traps to invisible role confusion — and explain how mindset, ownership, and strategy misalignment often sabotage execution long before the first backlog is built. If you’re leading transformation and the results aren’t sticking, this is a shift worth considering. 🚦Leadership vs. Servant Leadership – Which truly drives Agile teams? In a recent Scrum Master community conversations , I was asked: “How is servant leadership different from leadership?” That question completely reframed my view of what it means to lead. Leadership is often about directing, deciding, and ensuring results. The leader stands at the front, setting the path. Servant leadership flips the script. It’s about enabling, removing blockers, and creating the right space for the team to thrive—often from behind the scenes. 💡 Scrum example: A traditional leader might assign tasks in a sprint. A servant leader helps the team self-organize, protects focus, and trusts them to own delivery. The shift is subtle but powerful: Leadership drives through people. Servant leadership drives for people. How have you seen servant leadership transform a team? #ServantLeadership, #Leadership, #AgileLeadership, #ScrumMaster, #Scrum, #LeadershipDevelopment, #Teamwork, #WorkplaceCulture, #Collaboration, #GrowthMindset, #ProjectManagement, #Agile, #LeadershipSkills, #CareerDevelopment, #ProfessionalGrowth

Agile Leadership Insight Leaders don’t just manage—they empower. True leadership in Agile focuses on fostering an atmosphere that allows teams to flourish, experiment, and self-organize. Magic occurs when we move from command-and-control to empower-and-enable: Teams take responsibility Collaboration improves Innovation thrives Quality gets stronger It is our responsibility as leaders to remove obstacles, foster trust, and provide visionary guidance rather than micromanaging. How do you give your teams the freedom to self-organize and produce their best work? #Agile #Scrum #Leadership #Teamwork #DigitalTransformation

This is an important convo. I’ve seen lots of businesses and teams talk about ‘being Agile’ and applying the buzzwords or surface-level activities (stand ups etc.) without any real commitment to actually having frank conversations or adapting to (or even gathering) feedback. I think a lot of professionals misunderstand the concept and treat it like a ‘team value’ rather than a methodology.
