Mercedes-Benz AG is SUPERCHARGING its global EV charging ambitions by deploying Alpitronic’s next-generation HYC 1000 system, setting the stage for charging speeds once thought impossible. This technology delivers up to 600 kW to a single EV today, nearly doubling the power of existing 350 kW fast chargers, and paves the way for 1 MW output in the near future. See EVinfo.net's article: https://lnkd.in/gVRwRX4f The system’s modular Power Cabinet can allocate as much as 1,000 kW across four dispensers, dynamically balancing loads so that a single vehicle can utilize the full 600 kW when available, while multiple EVs share the capacity. Equipped with dual liquid-cooled cables, the platform is engineered for both flexibility and durability. For drivers, the impact is tangible: Mercedes’ new CLA could add roughly 200 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Mercedes and Alpitronic have already showcased a prototype 1 MW charger, successfully delivering over 1,000 A and 1,000 V through a liquid-cooled CCS cable during a record-setting demonstration with the Mercedes-AMG GT XX concept. The rollout is part of Mercedes-Benz’s ambitious expansion of its charging network, which currently includes around 80 hubs across Germany, Austria, Japan, China, and the U.S., with new sites planned in eight more countries. The company aims to install more than 10,000 ultra-fast charging stalls worldwide by 2030. This strategy positions Mercedes not only to meet the charging demands of its own customers but also to compete directly with megawatt-scale systems from companies like BYD, which have already reshaped the EV landscape in China. EVinfo.net notes that while China has surged ahead with government-backed infrastructure and BYD’s five-minute charging technology, U.S. adoption remains constrained by policy delays, grid challenges, and limited model availability. Europe is preparing to adopt megawatt chargers, but in the U.S., most vehicles still peak below 400 kW. For Mercedes, partnering with Alpitronic is both a technological leap and a strategic move to narrow this gap, demonstrating that the U.S. and European markets can still accelerate toward next-generation mobility if industry and policymakers align. At stake is not just faster charging but global leadership in EV standards, supply chains, and consumer adoption. Faster charging could unlock mainstream EV acceptance, but unless the U.S. acts swiftly, American drivers may be the last to benefit. Mercedes’ bold step signals that the future of transportation is electric, and waiting is no longer an option. When Your EV Becomes More Than a Car♻️ Here’s the official part first, In 2022, General Motors (#GM) partnered with SunPower Corporation to create a home energy system that connects EVs, solar panels, and home energy storage into one seamless ecosystem. This allows GM EV batteries to supply power to homes during outages or peak energy hours. These details come directly from the companies’ announcements. Now here’s where my own excitement comes in, Imagine your car not just as a vehicle, but as a smart, reliable energy hub. The idea that it can power your home when needed, while solar panels feed clean energy to both your house and EV, is just thrilling to me. It’s energy efficiency you can actually see and feel, and it makes me feel part of a solution for a greener future. Other automakers like Mercedes-Benz AG (Vision #EQXX concept) and Toyota Motor Corporation are also experimenting with solar-integrated EVs to extend range and improve efficiency, according to their official releases. For me personally, this is more than just news, it’s a mix of science, innovation, and real-world impact. Seeing these projects makes me optimistic about the future of #CleanTech and #EVInnovation, and it’s the kind of progress that could genuinely change how we live and move. #SustainableEnergy #GreenTech #FutureMobility #SmartEnergy #Innovation #RenewableEnergy

#German automaker Mercedes-Benz’s new generation of EVs, launching in 2026, will have #bidirectional charging capability. The company announced that it will introduce a fully integrated service offering for bidirectional charging, with the all-electric GLC model to be the first to feature the technology. Market launch will begin in #Germany, #France and the #UK. In collaboration with the Mobility House, which will provide bidirectional wallbox chargers, Mercedes is launching a digital charging system, MB.CHARGE Home. Mercedes and the #Munich-based technology company launched #Europe-wide partnership for intelligent charging services earlier this year. Mercedes-Benz Mobility CEO Franz Reiner explained: “#MercedesBenz provides the digital charging ecosystem connected to the vehicle while the Mobility House provides the appropriate #greenenergy tariff and connection to the energy market. “This means that all charging processes at home are carried out using 100% electricity from #renewable energies.” Mercedes said the aim is to reduce energy costs for households while contributing to grid stability. MB.CHARGE Home comes in two levels. ‘Intelligent’ enables automated charging optimisation for lower cost and grid support, charging the vehicle when demand is low and there are favourable tariffs. ‘Pro Intelligent’ expands this to add the bidirectional functionality. Related:Europe's battery challenge: How public-private collaboration can transform industrial headwinds into opportunity According to similar deployments managed by the Mobility House, smart charging systems reduce monthly charging costs by 30-70% compared to unmanaged charging. Although its #EVs are ready for bidirectional charging, Mercedes said that in order for customers to be able to use the full potential of vehicle to grid (#V2G), regulatory frameworks are still required in some countries. The automaker said it is working with energy industry partners to ensure the right conditions are created. V2G brings cost savings to market In October 2024, the Mobility House, together with Renault Group and Mobilize Power launched a free V2G charging rate in France—a global first. At the moment, to meet what V2G standards are available, V2G is offered in a ‘closed’ system, because interoperability is not yet possible. In the #US, the US Vehicle-Grid Integration Council (#VGIC), a membership-based advocacy group, is working to encourage states to adopt V2G interconnection rules. The Mobility House is active in the US, co-leading a vehicle-to-everything (#V2X) trial in #Massachusetts and recently implementing a V2G charging system for Fremont Unified School District's (#FUSD’s) electric school bus fleet in #California.
