We had an exciting hands-on experience in the lab, where we designed a small model using Solid Edge and prepared it for 3D printing with Ultimaker Cura. Cura was a new addition to our skillset, enabling the learning of slicing the model and generate precise G-codes for printing — a step that bridges design and manufacturing in additive processes. 3D printing (Additive Manufacturing) is revolutionizing the way we create products, offering unparalleled flexibility, rapid prototyping, and cost-effective customization. From aerospace components to biomedical implants and sustainable product development, its real-world applications are vast and growing. This session not only strengthened design-to-manufacture workflow but also sparked the interest to explore deeper into additive manufacturing technologies.
