This is just one example of a 'webform' chatbot. Chatbots are better than traditional webforms because they take up less real estate, the user can ask for clarification in the middle of answering the questions, and they can be connected to whatever the next step is for the user without having to load another page or scroll or risk them bouncing away. The beginning of the video shows how the bots are linked together. This makes them modular and therefore endlessly extensible. If you want to add new information or features to a chatbot, we just create a new module and link it with the existing one.

For us, as an API company, GenAI's real value isn't just in building the core product. It's in transforming the operational layer. Traditionally, API companies like ours have leaned on detailed tutorials, lengthy documentation, and manual customer support to help users get started and stay updated. We’d spend a lot of time writing out explanations, code samples, and step-by-step guides. Most customers appreciate these resources, but some found them hard to navigate or too time-consuming to use. Our solutions team also spent a lot of time on building detailed demos with more traditional tools, and maintaining industry / product specific resources. Keeping documentation up to date (especially as we shipped new features) was also always a challenge. What changed for us was aggressively incorporating GenAI across these problems. Instead of just thinking about GenAI as something to embed in our product, we started using it to solve our own operational bottlenecks. Here are three specific applications that have made a real difference: 1. Rapid demo building Instead of writing elaborate tutorials, we now use tools like Lovable or v0.dev to quickly build interactive demos. These are much more visual and hands-on for customers. The feedback has been clear: people engage with demos more than they ever did with static documentation. Our team also finds building demos a lot more enjoyable and less repetitive. 2. Documentation enhancement GenAI helps us check parameter coverage, generate tailored code examples, and even spot omissions (e.g. specific error codes or usage in specific customer environments) . This means our documentation and resources aren’t just comprehensive - they’re also much more relevant for different use cases. We can spot gaps and fill them faster, and our examples are more useful to the people who need them. 3. Personalized customer updates We use GenAI to analyze all our new features and documentation changes, then generate tailored updates for specific customers. Instead of a generic newsletter, our customer success team can provide highly relevant updates that matter to each customer’s actual implementation. This scales far better than manual outreach, and customers feel like we’re genuinely keeping them in the loop. The lesson for us: GenAI’s biggest value for API companies isn’t just in the core algorithms or features. It’s also in the operational layer. The connective tissue between your product and your customers. That’s where we’ve seen the most transformative impact, and it’s changed how we think about building and supporting our APIs.

Let’s talk about "AI products" ... I meet a lot of teams with great demos. Smooth UI, snappy answers. Then we look under the hood and it is a prompt on someone else’s model. That is fine for a v1. It is not a business. What tends to last: - You have distribution that brings real users. - You collect first-party data with clear usage rights. - You live inside workflows so teams cannot rip you out in a week. - Your agents take actions, not just chat. - You measure outcomes that matter: revenue, cost, error rates. If you do not control the data and the workflow, you are building a feature that a prompt can copy tomorrow. Wrappers are easy. Durable applications are not. What do you think?
