#2: Embracing Summer Chaos and Celebrating Wins

#2: Embracing Summer Chaos and Celebrating Wins

If you'd like to get The 3Cs Digest sent straight to your inbox on the 1st and 15th of every month, subscribe here!

Holy wow, the last two weeks have been a whirlwind! Aren't things supposed to slow down in the summer months? 😅

I kicked things off by publishing the first issue of the 3Cs Digest on Monday the 15th, and since you're reading this it means you didn't unsubscribe - hooray! (Honestly, one of the reasons I hesitated relaunching this newsletter for so long is because of my deep fear of rejection and not being liked by LITERALLY EVERYONE I've ever met, so being okay with people unsubscribing if it's not for them is something I'm actively working on. Where my recovering people pleaser/perfectionists at?!)

On Tuesday the 16th, I taught my workshop, “Amplify Your Influence” twice - virtually in the morning to Emily McDonald ’s Mastermind, My Founder Circle, and in the evening at NeueHouse to a room filled with friends new and old. Thank you to Holly Benavente Cocozza for organizing and to Rachael Buechler for filming it so I have content for my speaker reel!

On Thursday the 18th, I debuted my new keynote talk, “Surviving and Thriving with the Support of your Community” at Angel De Guerra, PhD Candidate ’s Beauty & Beast in Business Empowerment Conference in Temecula with my mom in the front row 🥰

Lest you think it was all work and no play, my mom was in town from Florida for a week, my kids had their last day of preschool on the 19th, and on Sunday the 21st I threw them a double Mickey Mouse Clubhouse birthday party, complete with a massive bounce house and way too many toddlers 😂 Their birthdays are on the 1st and 29th, so I'll be combining their parties until they convince me otherwise! Who else is juggling running a business or working while also trying to enjoy your kids' summer break?

On Wednesday the 24th, AJ Sarcione and I ran our first of two webinars for our upcoming Showcase Your Shine Masterclass on August 24th and it felt truly magical. He and I have been collaborating on building this program from the ground up since early March, so finally getting on Zoom together in front of a virtual room full of people to showcase OUR shine was so fun and fulfilling. You can catch the replay here!

On Thursday the 25th, I led the Luminary July Founder Support Group and facilitated a conversation around surviving & thriving with the support of your community. I joined Luminary a couple of months ago and have been looking for ways to start getting involved with the community, and this was a fabulous start.

Whew - what a month July was! This week I'm officially OOO on a road trip to NorCal with my crew to see the redwoods, but I'll be back in action come Monday and can't wait to keep the momentum going through the rest of the year.

And with that, I give you this week's 3Cs Digest, complete with a brand new section called, “Tips of the Week” where I'll share one actionable tip for each of the 3Cs: Community, Connection, and Collaboration.

Let's get to it!

Want some additional support crafting + implementing your 3Cs Strategy? Let's talk!

💡 Curate Community

When joining new communities, clarify your personal goals. Are you seeking professional growth, personal development, or new friendships? Having a clear intention will guide you in finding the right communities where you can genuinely connect and thrive.

💡 Cultivate Connection

Before diving into a conversation with someone, allow them to share how they’re feeling and arriving to the moment. After your initial hellos, ask something like, “How has your day/week been unfolding?” and share your answer too so they know how you’re mentally showing up. This allows you both to connect on a more honest and deeper level.

💡Catalyze Collaboration

Give the people in your life the opportunity to support you. Allowing people to help you in your career or personal life not only builds stronger relationships, it also creates a more collaborative and supportive environment for everyone. It's an act of love to let others in and support each other - think of one thing you could use help with and then make the ask!

Here's what's been inspiring me lately ✨

🎧 We Can Do Hard Things Podcast - How to Stop Avoiding Yourself: Feel The Loneliness, Jealousy & Longing”

I should warn you that this podcast will likely make regular appearances in this newsletter since it's one I listen to religiously the day the episodes drop! This one was great because Abby, Glennon, and Amanda answer a listener question about how to stop feeling lonely, and they get into a conversation about how we're all seeking connection. One interesting point they made was that perhaps feeling lonely isn't something to be avoided, but rather something to embrace as a way to feel more connected to yourself, and I don't disagree. You can be surrounded by people and still feel lonely, so perhaps the move is to make sure that you're seeking connection for the right reasons, not as a means of escaping yourself. (listen here)

📚 “The Gap and The Gain: The High Achievers' Guide to Happiness, Confidence, and Success” by Dan Sullivan & Benjamin P. Hardy

This book came recommended to me by my friend Max Pete when I was feeling disgruntled about my lack of immediate success in my brand new business earlier this year. The gist of the book is that rather than focusing on how far away from your (often arbitrary) goals you are, focus instead on how far you've come. It's super simple, but incredibly effective at reframing your progress and allowing you to see everything you HAVE accomplished rather than where you're falling short. (read here)

I might be biased, but the people in my community are absolutely the best, so allow me to introduce you to some of them!

🤝 People you should know

  • The name AJ Sarcione should sound very familiar by now, as he's my collaborator extraordinaire on the Showcase Your Shine Masterclass that I've been talking about non-stop for the last couple of weeks! AJ is the former head of internal marketing at Yahoo and head of mojo and employee experience at Verizon. He works with organizations and people to activate culture, employee engagement, and executive branding with a unique angle defined through internal branding. He's also the man behind the Authentic Authority™ Program which we'll cover in part 1 of our Masterclass on August 24th.

🤠 Weekly Connection Roundup

  • Natalie Lee , Thought Leader, Transformational Guide, and Founder of Soulfully Rich, a full-service consultancy supporting businesses seeking to build exceptional teams and individuals looking for transformative coaching. Their vision is to create a thriving network of extraordinary entrepreneurs, advisors, and experts who come together to foster genuine connections, collaboration, and unwavering support. Natalie and I met over lunch at the Luminary LIVE event in LA earlier this summer and finally reconnected last week where we bonded over our shared belief that humanity is lacking in most human interactions these days, from hiring to networking. We're both working in our own ways to fix that.
  • Dusti Arab , Fractional CMO, Podcast Host of Referral Worthy, a podcast for small business owners ready to go from “best kept secret” to the go-to name in their niche, and the founder of the reinvention co, a marketing consultancy specializing in working with personality-driven companies with small teams. I've been following Dusti on Instagram for a while now but finally slid into her DMs to see if she'd be up for a virtual coffee chat with me after learning about her Referral Worthy program where she teaches service-based entrepreneurs how to build a referral-worthy business. An integral part of leveraging your network is making it easy for people to refer you to opportunities, so Dusti and I are already cooking up ways we might collaborate in the coming months!

🤩 Featured Friends

Want to be an upcoming “Featured Friend” to get your business in front of 4K+ really smart and cool people? Comment below and let's talk!

  • Lauren Tetef , Founder of Flourish Locally is hosting the first of a monthly networking series at Saltbox in Torrance TONIGHT, Thursday, August 1st from 6-8pm. This will be an intentional networking event for small business owners to connect with like-minded individuals and grow their local business community. Tickets are free, so RSVP here and give her a hug for me since I'm out of town and can't be there!
  • Kirstyn Shaw , Founder of The Very Best Cookie In The Whole Wide World is throwing a party on Saturday, August 3rd from 9am-5pm to celebrate the shop turning one! They'll have lots of fun surprises, free gifts with purchase, new flaves, and specialty items, PLUS Sweet Selmas Bagels & Eastside Cheesecakes are popping up at 9am and Sunfield Pots is popping up at 1pm. If you can't be there in person, place an online order for her Not Yo Mama's RKTS and thank me later!

I’m so thankful for all of the wonderful humans in my community - I believe people are portals to all good things, and every single day I'm proven right. Thanks for being one of them. 🤗

PS - I'm doing a segment on my new podcast called “3 Truths, No Lies” where I ask my guests 3 questions to get to know them better before diving into my hard-hitting connection questions 😂. To get to know you better, dear reader, here's my question for you this week:

What’s a food that reminds you of your twenties?
