The 4 Habits That Helped Me Finally Get Things Done (Without Running Myself into the Ground)

Ever had one of those weeks where you did everything... except the thing you actually wanted to get done?

If you’re working a 9-5 and trying to grow a YouTube channel, blog, podcast, or any kind of creative side hustle, you’ve probably felt like you’re sprinting on a hamster wheel, busy all day but somehow still behind.

You’re not lazy. You’re not scattered. You’re just trying to do too much, with too little structure, and maybe zero rest.

In this week’s YouTube video, I’m sharing the 4 time management habits that helped me shift from chaos to clarity and finally start seeing progress without sacrificing my sanity.

Habit 1: Time Block Like a Boss

I used to write a to-do list... then ignore it. Now? I assign specific time blocks on my calendar like appointments - content creation on Saturday mornings, admin tasks on weekday evenings, and yes… even rest.

➡️ Why it works: It reduces decision fatigue and protects your focus like a mama bear protecting her cubs.

Want your brain to chill and just do the thing? Time block it.

Habit 2: Prioritize One Thing at a Time

Multitasking feels productive… until you realize you’ve half-started 7 projects and finished none. I now choose one goal per week. Then I break it down and assign one tiny action to each day.

➡️ Why it works: Progress is way easier (and more peaceful) when you stop trying to do everything and just do one thing well.

Habit 3: Eliminate What Doesn’t Matter

Listen, just because something is “good” doesn’t mean it deserves your energy. I said buh-bye to extra platforms, ditched fluff tasks, and batch small errands. My calendar finally started breathing again.

➡️ Try this: Look at your current schedule. What’s draining you but not moving the needle in your side hustle? Cross it out.

Habit 4: Set Boundaries That Actually Protect Your Energy

This was the hardest one… but the most freeing. I now set (and communicate!) clear work hours with friends and family, schedule “off” days, and protect my peace like it’s part of my job, because it is.

➡️ Your turn: This week, choose one non-negotiable block of time for your passion project. Let everyone know. Then honor it like it’s a Beyoncé concert.
