Winning the Week
Most people start their Monday in reaction mode, checking emails, scrambling through meetings, and responding to last-minute tasks. But here’s a powerful truth:
A productive week doesn’t happen by chance. It happens by choice.
Whether you’re managing a team, building your business, or growing your career, how you plan your week sets the tone for everything else.
Let me share a bit of my story.
I graduated in 2013, excited, uncertain, and eager to land my first job. I didn’t have a grand master plan, just a desire to learn and grow. My first job taught me more than just work skills; it taught me the value of discipline, structure, and planning ahead. I quickly realized that success wasn’t about being busy, it was about being intentional with my time.
That’s when I started applying a weekly planning routine. It helped me manage my workload, show up with confidence, and slowly build momentum in my career. Fast forward to today, I still use this same approach, refined over the years and it has been a game changer.
Here’s the 5-step weekly planning framework I use and recommend to my clients:
✅ 1. Review the Past Week
Before moving forward, take 10 minutes to reflect:
What went well?
What could’ve gone better?
What’s still pending?
This gives you clarity and helps you avoid repeating the same mistakes.
🧭 2. Reconnect with Your Goals
Look at your short- and long-term goals. Ask:
What must I move forward this week?
What’s aligned with my big-picture priorities?
Focus on progress, not just activity.
📆 3. Block Your Priorities
Use time blocking to carve out space for:
Deep work (strategy, planning, creation)
Meetings (limit them if you can)
Personal time (family, workouts, breaks)
If it’s not on your calendar, it probably won’t happen.
💬 4. Communicate Early
Reach out to clients, teammates, or family members ahead of time:
Set expectations.
Clarify deadlines.
Avoid misalignment.
Proactive communication prevents reactive firefighting.
🌱 5. Leave Room to Breathe
Life happens. Unexpected things will pop up. Leave at least 10–20% of your week unplanned to manage surprises with calm and confidence.
Remember: You don’t need to control everything, just the next most important thing.
This week, plan with purpose. Prioritize what matters. And leave room for growth.
You’ve got this. 💼
