4 Things Fit & Happy Professionals Pack Every Trip
Toothbrush? Check!
Underwear? Check!
Socks? Check!
But did you pack the most important four things to maintain your health and happiness while traveling?
The ancient Greek physician, Hippocrates referred to as the 'Father of Medicine' and considered one of the most outstanding figures in medicine based his health philosophy off of these four lifestyle factors:
- Diet - everything you eat and drink
- Quiet - sleep, rest, and quiet time
- Happiness - activities that produce personal happiness and satisfaction
- Movement - physical activity, exercise and recreational sports
Most professionals find it a challenge to maintain their health and fitness on the road because these simple four things are not prepped and packed for.
Prepping For Diet, Quiet, Happiness & Movement
Preparing for a fit and healthy trip is essential if you ever expect to experience one. Here are some examples of how to prep for Diet, Quiet, Happiness, and Movement (DQHM).
First, list what are the challenges you have experienced while on the road?
Challenges are very common for all travel. By practicing a 'Maintain, Don't Gain' philosophy rather than strict, perfectionist perspective you will experience less stress and higher compliance. For example, consider lowering your expectations, intensity, time, and frequency of workouts while out of your normal routine.
Another prerequisite for overcoming previous challenges is to prep and pack for success based on the specifics of the upcoming trip and what you learned from the last travel experience.
Second, list what are the health and fitness goals that address your previous challenges for the upcoming trip?
Third, think through your needs and wants for DQHM then do a quick research on the availability at your destination's surrounding area.
Packing For DQHM
Pack it to have it. Here are examples of what my clients pack to help them maintain their routine for DQHM when they are on business and personal trips.
For Diet, pack Himalayan or Celtic Sea Salts, high alkaline water bottles, and organic fruit & nut/jerky snack bars for adding hydration and nutrition to your daily diet.
For Quiet, packing an essential oil, an organic herbal tea, sleep mask and headphones can help you sleep, take breather or calm down after a stressful, busy day.
For Happiness, pack a new book, a comfort from home, a list of things that you want to do while away, fun podcasts or movies, and schedule in-person, virtual, or phone connections with family & friends.
For Movement, pack athletic footwear and clothing, your specific travel workout routine, and any equipment you need like headphones, water bottle, or resistance bands.
By always prepping and packing Diet, Quiet, Happiness, & Movement for future trips you can experience higher levels of enjoyment, vitality, and fitness!
