7 Interview-Style Podcasts That I'm Excited About in 2019

Even before I landed my current role as a Career Coach, I had enjoyed learning about other people’s professional journeys (now I know, what I did was called ‘networking’ or ‘coffee chats’).  Everyone has a story, and I believe there is always something inspiring within them. Therefore, I decided to put together a list of interview-style podcasts that I am excited about in 2019. Some of them are new launches or new to me, while others are long-time favorites.  I hope you can find a few names to add to your playlists this year as well!

If you are new to podcasts, here is a great podcast beginner’s guide that I found on How-To-Geek.

7 Interview-Style Podcasts That I’m Excited About In 2019:

  1. The Marie Forleo Podcast by Marie Forleo.  Those who I interact with more probably already know I am a huge fan of Marie’s.  When I am in need of inspiration, guidance, tips or just a great interview, Marie’s podcast is on the top of my list.  She is genuine and creative. I always learn something new and feel refreshed after I listen to Marie's podcast (or watch her show on MarieTV).
  2. Second Life by Clique Brands, hosted by their co-founder, Hillary Kerr.  I first heard of Hillary because of the book she co-authored, The Career Code, but had no idea she also had a podcast series featuring professionals who have made major career changes.  If you need a good one to start with, I was so encouraged by her recent interview with Aimee Song, founder of Song of Style.
  3. The Green Apple Podcast with John Garrett. I have been listening to this podcast for more than a year and it is still one of my go-tos.  Every week John invites a professional to be his guest and chat about how their hobbies outside of work help them achieve success professionally.  As a former accounting professional, I am proud to say that John has proved that ‘CPAs can be funny.’
  4. How I Built This with Guy Raz.  Even though I am very new to this podcast series, I have heard really good things about it from multiple friends.  With more than 15,000 reviews and a 5 out of 5 rating on iTunes, this is no doubt one of many listeners’ favorites.  I recently heard the Jerry Murrell’s story of how he started Five Guys, and now I am hooked!
  5. The Savvy Young Professional by @KaLeena Weaver Thomas.  KaLeena is not only a rising star in health care, but also a gifted leader, writer and podcast host.  I loved the authenticity and honest discussions in her pilot interview with Michelle McClay, and I look forward to more makings by KaLeena in 2019.
  6. The Coffee Chat with Coach Leigh’s Podcast by @Leigh Gauthier.  Another new 2019 podcast series that I am very excited about. I recently listened to the episode with Gaurav Kapoor and loved his story of how he transitioned internationally from India to Canada, and switched from Investment Banking to Product Development.
  7. Women Killing It with Sally Hubbard.  Recommended to me by @Selina Gong, this is a new podcast that I am excited to try in 2019.  If you have listened to this one before, I’d love to hear your recommendations!

This is it!  My list of most excited about podcasts for 2019.  What podcast series are you excited about in 2019?  Have you decided to give anyone from the 7 above a try? Or, if you are a fan already, I love to hear about your favorite episodes too!
