7 Things I've learned from Entrepreneurship

It's been a little over a year since I took the leap and launched my coaching practice. I would make the same decision again. I took some time to pause and reflect on what this past year has taught me. I reflected on where I was a year ago, where I am now, and what I want to take into this next year. A few insights bubbled up. They can be applied to entrepreneurship and any new transition or change you are experiencing.

Reflect on a change or a transition you are going through, and look at these through the lens of how they can support you with your own experience.

What has a year of entrepreneurship taught me? Below are some of the lessons that stood out to me and I want to share with you.

  1. Build an inner circle that supports you and cheers you on along the way. Entrepreneurship can be exhilarating and filled with opportunity AND can also be lonely. Surround yourself with people who lift you up.
  2. Build your resilience and your capacity to learn from each experience. Entrepreneurship is a beautiful analogy for life. There will be ups and downs coupled with extreme emotions on both sides of the emotional spectrum, extreme joy and extreme disappointment. See each experience as a gift and an opportunity to learn and grow.
  3. Strengthen your awareness muscle and continue to strengthen it. Become aware of what boosts your energy and what drains it. Focus your time and effort on those boosting elements. That's where you will ignite the most creativity and innovation. Thank you iPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, where I obtained my coaching certification) and core energy coaching for this invaluable teaching and so many others this past year. I share these concepts with my clients daily and how to apply them in their lives so they tap into their creativity, inspiration, and potential.
  4. Look for opportunities, you'll find them everywhere. Opportunities for learning are infinite.
  5. Invest in and nurture your relationships, both personal and professional. Make time for connection, it is essential to a fulfilling and satisfying life.
  6. Show up authentically. You are uniquely you with strengths, gifts and insights that the world needs. Lean into them and share them.
  7. Ask for help! You have amazing skills and strengths, lean into those and find those that will complement them. Find opportunities for collaboration where you can thrive in areas that inspire and energize you and you can support others in living out and doing what inspires and energizes them. We are connected and it is beautiful to see how we come together to create amazing impact in the world.

If it is entrepreneurship or another new experience, remember to keep going, rest when you need to and take time to reflect and celebrate along the way. Celebrate all the progress you are making, big and small! Celebrate, acknowledge your progress and continue to seek opportunities in each new experience.

These are wonderful thoughts and tips, thanks. I might also tell my former self to listen to my gut, trust my intuition and let go,of those ideas of how we think it should be. Entrepreneurial life is a journey.
