"An AI for an AI": LinkedIn’s New Norm

Have Our Networking Conversations Been Outsourced to AI

I realized something unsettling while engaging on LinkedIn: the “conversations” I was having weren’t conversations at all—they were automated echoes.

Every now and then, I dedicate time to read and respond to posts on LinkedIn—especially those tied to my field. It’s a habit I like. I write each response with care, hoping to spark interesting exchanges, share insights, and learn something new from other professionals.

For a while, I didn’t mind.

I enjoyed offering insights, asking questions, and imagining a real person on the other end, digesting and responding to my ideas. Infact, their responses seemed intelligent and respectful. The first half often summarized my thoughts (flatteringly well), while the second half introduced their framework or perspective. I thought, "Great, here’s a chance to exchange ideas".

But then, the déjà vu began.

Their next reply? Word for word, the same structure.

A third? Identical phrasing.

And that’s when it hit me: This isn’t a conversation—it’s automation.

The AI Echo Chamber

When I looked closer, the pattern became painfully clear. Posts filled with vague applause—“Great post!” “Amazing insights, George!”—contributed to LinkedIn’s enigmatic algorithm.

Longer replies, dressed in the illusion of depth, were likely crafted by feeding my comment into ChatGPT with instructions to “respond thoughtfully.”

Moshe Admoni really well said Moshe and spot on. Love your point that, " The culture of an organization is shaped by what happens between the manager and their team."

Moshe Admoni Thank you for such a thoughtful response! I love your focus on creating a collaborative and evidence-driven foundation with the leadership team. The immersive experience sounds impactful.

Moshe Admoni Absolutely Trust, connection, and shared purpose are like the roots of a thriving tree they nourish everything else.

We’ve arrived at the AI Echo Chamber Effect: AI tools generating responses to AI-generated content, creating a polished but soulless feedback loop. It’s like a corporate networking event where everyone exchanges the same pleasantries and empty smiles—counting engagements instead of creating impact.

And while the automation might save us time, what have we traded for this convenience? The raw, imperfect beauty of human connection.

The spark of authentic intellectual curiosity. The chance to truly listen, reflect, and enrich one another.

Why This Matters for Professional Growth

Authentic conversation isn’t just a “nice-to-have.” It’s the fuel for innovation, trust-building, and better decision-making.

When we rely on genuine human exchange, we open doors to fresh perspectives, form resilient professional relationships, and establish a culture of curiosity that propels teams and organizations forward.

The best ideas emerge when people honestly challenge each other, share personal experiences, and co-create solutions—something no automated response can replicate.

What Are We Losing?

In our rush to optimize, we risk outsourcing what makes professional exchanges valuable: our authenticity, emotional resonance, and the creative friction that drives growth.

Yes, AI can simulate connection—but it can’t be connection. It can’t match the authenticity or the spark that leads to breakthrough thinking.

We lose out on the richness of diverse viewpoints, the personal connections that build trust, and the truly innovative ideas that push businesses to thrive.

As automation reshapes everything, our humanity, creativity, and ability to engage meaningfully become our greatest assets.

Taking Back the Conversation—literally!

So, here’s my challenge to you—and to myself: next time you’re about to hit “comment,” just pause. Enter a personal mode and think of something thought-provoking, valuable, and especially human to share.

Let's build connections, not just count clicks. Because while AI can help us do many things, only we can truly connect.

What do you think?

Has this happened to you? What’s your experience with AI-driven comments

If so, let’s talk—you and me, no AI mediation needed
