In the search for more challenging improv games.... it gets crazy. Can you do the IMPOSSIBLE Game?

When I discovered improv games, it unlocked some playful spirit in me that I thought we had to leave behind as we grew older. But here it was, the world of Improvisational Theater - with all these games to play. And the games did not have winners and losers - it was play for plays sake. The feeling of connection with others was joyful.

I started looking for more and more games. I collected them in a book (The Playbook: Improv games for Performers), I started a web site (ImprovGames.com) and I started asking my colleagues around the world to share a game they enjoy.

In the past year, I've published a video every week (whew) of an Improv Game or Activity. The videos can be found on YouTube and on the web site (www.ImprovGames.com).

This week, I share a game called The Impossible Game. It's wildly difficult to do much of it at all.

I was having coffee two weeks ago with a friend who is an experienced improv teacher and performers and challenged her to play the game with me right there and then. We chose an activity (writing) we pulled out our notebooks and began to write....there was a long silence ...one of us said something like, "the weather is perfect today" ....long pause ...and the other person said, "yes, I've been thinking...."

And just like that the game was over. [watch the 2 minute video for the simple rules]

What are your thoughts about this game? What would you use to teach it for improv actors? and for non-actors?

I look forward to the discussion.
