It COSTS to be KIND - Kindness DOES COST you Something!!!

We’ve all heard them saying that ‘showing Kindness and Respect DOESN'T COST you anything’.

And we all believed it, as if it were something cheap, common, and came easily and naturally to people.

To be honest, I’ve often said the same thing in my attempts to convince people to be more kind, caring, and respectful to one another, especially within Workplace Cultures.

While this statement sounds right and has good intentions, does it really NOT cost you anything to show Kindness? 

Contrary to popular opinion, I believe it actually does COST something to BE Kind. In fact, it COSTS a lot.

💡Kindness, Respect, Compassion, and Empathy come at a HUGE PRICE.

It's a price that YOU pay to BE a person of Kindness, Respect, Compassion, etc, so that OTHERS can benefit from what YOU'VE taken the time and effort to develop and Build IN You.

Kindness, Respect, and Compassion, etc, are not just random acts, but a consistent daily Lifestyle. They are the RESULT and the FRUIT of the ROOT of Character.

Kindness is the FRUIT. Character is the ROOT!!!

As with any fruit-bearing tree, there is a PROCESS of:

🔹Caring,

🔹Nurturing,

🔹Cultivating,

🔹Nourishing,

that the entire tree must go through, for the FRUIT to be present.

While people may not see your life experiences, and the Process that has built your Character, which has produced the Fruits of Kindness and Respect, they now benefit from the price you paid to BE the 'Person of Character' that you ARE.

The Character-Building Process that has produced the Fruit of Kindness and Respect, etc, has cost you:

• Being kind when the situation or person didn't deserve Kindness.
• Being Respectful when the person/s did not deserve your Respect.
• Showing Compassion, Empathy, and Understanding when it was not deserved.
• Choosing to forgive those person/s when they did not deserve your Forgiveness.
• Controlling your Mind, Emotions, and behaviour, when the situation or person did not deserve it.
• Enforcing the Self-Imposed Discipline on yourself to not retaliate, but to be kind to those who hurt you.
• Choosing Peace, and to walk away from situations or people when all else tells you not to do so.
• Being Moral and Ethical during private temptations, even if the situation presented the opportunity to do otherwise.

No one saw THIS PROCESS nor the PRICE you had to pay to BE the 'Person of Character' you are today. But because of it, it allows you to show Kindness, Respect, Compassion, Patience, Empathy, etc, even when the situation and person do not deserve it.

There is a HUGE PRICE to pay to show Kindness, Respect, Compassion, and Empathy to others. It's paying the price of YOU being committed to the Character-Building Process, so that others can benefit from the FRUIT of Kindness and Respect, etc, it has produced.

It's a PROCESS and a PRICE that requires YOUR Personal Daily Commitment, Dedication, and Self-Imposed Discipline to work on YOU (your Character).

This explains why there is a LACK of Kindness, Respect, Compassion, and Empathy in society, and why people are yearning for more Kindness and Respect to be shown in Societies and Company Cultures, because people, and especially those in Leadership, are not willing to pay the price or commit to the PROCESS that builds and develops the Personal Character needed, which produces Kindness and Respect.

For many, this is TOO huge a Personal Sacrifice, TOO Inconvenient a Personal Process, and TOO big a Personal Price to pay. However, when you realize that Life and Leadership revolve around PEOPLE, you will realize that YOU need to work on YOU, and that the Character-Building Process is an undeniable part of this journey.

So we should NOT expect Kindness, Respect, and Compassion from people/leaders who have not, and who are unwilling to pay the PRICE of the Character-Building Process for the FRUIT of Kindness to be PRESENT and EVIDENT in their lives.

For those who are willing to embrace the PROCESS that PRODUCES these FRUITS, then Kindness, Respect, and Compassion, etc, WILL be PRESENT and EVIDENT in your lives and Leadership.

Showing Kindness DOES COST you something. Are you willing to pay that PRICE?

• Do you need to BE more Kind to people/employees?
• Are you willing to pay the price to BE a Kind person (a better person/leader)?
• Are you willing to commit to the PROCESS of Character-Building which Produces Kindness?

➡️ As a Company:

• Do you want your Leaders to show more kindness in their Leadership?
• Do you want your Leaders to lead with great impact and influence because of their Kindness, Respect, and Compassion for their People?
• Do you want to retain and protect your Talent/People and combat high staff turnover?
• Do you want to create a healthier and stronger Company Culture where Kindness & Respect are not words on paper but evident in your Culture & Workplace Relationship?
