Dear Career, It’s Not You, It’s Gen Z

Dear Career, It’s Not You, It’s Gen Z

Only 6% of respondents in the Gen Z and Millennial Survey said their career goal is to reach a senior leadership position. The rest? They’re focused on learning, growing, and protecting their work-life balance.

People often say Gen Z is a more difficult generation. But are they, really?

To understand them better, we need to look beyond assumptions. Around 40% of Gen Z and 34% of millennials report feeling stressed or anxious most of the time. Economic uncertainty, a global pandemic, climate change, digital overload - it’s not exactly an easy inheritance.

If climbing the career ladder isn’t the top priority, learning clearly is. 70% of Gen Z say they’re building skills to advance their careers at least once a week. Among millennials, that number drops to 59%. Mentorship and guidance also matter: 86% of Gen Z and 84% of millennials value this support. That’s not always easy to access when working entirely from home.

Together, Gen Z and millennials are projected to make up 74% of the global workforce by 2030. They’re not just “young people who’ll grow up eventually.” They’re already shaping the future of work.

How do we work with them? Scroll down and explore our newly launched ebook Gen Z at Work.
