Delayed goals? Abstain the diversion effect!
Take a pause! Look where we started. Ever since we became conscious in life, we are in a run. At times we look at others and pace up, sometimes jealousy creeps in and slows us down, and else we leap for self-satisfying higher interests. In the process some of us slip and fall, injuring our ego and self-esteem becoming dreadful most of the time. That's when we get closer to reality and realize of us missing the real, small and meaningful things that you'd planned before the run happened. We feel gratitude for that reminding at that moment. But it is so short-lived that something else takes over our minds and we forget it soon enough. We know what is right and keep it in one corner cell of our brain, but the world order keeps its magnetism intact, and we tend to run again! Nobody’s mistake.
It is either the past falls or the future glory that propels our speed (Yes, at times sustenance too!). The sunshine of present gets lost in the mid-way. Goal setting and achievement is like that. It feels so needful and good while making goals. Of course; they should be realistic and should be felt achievable while deciding them. But as days progress, it is like the ray of light which is a single line, and when it passes through prism, it’s more vibrant and takes a colorful effect, which makes the physical line ray before prism remains no more. Though the example of a colorful VIBGYOR is beautiful as an outcome; most of the decided goals (the single line sun ray in this case) end this way, unless the goal itself was to end colorfully or distorted.
The once decided course, gets easily diverted on occasional attractions or mishaps. Maybe it is really nice along the way. But that takes a toll on your journey, as your goal is measured by time as well. It takes hugely strong will power to take the stand on course once decided. Else constantly correcting the course to stay on track shall become the focal area than the goal achievement itself.
So, where does diversion effect fit in here? Researches tell us that only 5% of the global humankind turn out to be extraordinarily successful. Means, becoming commandingly successful and the masters of the trade in whatever they do. Now how do they do that? Also, on the contrary, it is unbelievably told that if half of all mankind turns super successful, then there could be more gang wars than the 60’s & 70’s. This makes us feel this 95:5 is itself the right balance. But NO, there is room for more. It is all about how we reach our fair share of achievement to better our position than pushing into a crowd and cause a chaos. For the peaceful coexistence, differentiation is the magic fundamental to follow, than the emulative unhealthy sharing of space which is sharper to cause wounds; owing to the fact that there is a market and a space for all the unique ideas and means. And it brings us humans close to the core fundamental strength of identifying and of playing to your unique strengths. This is a formula that can take one close to success, and all depends on consistency of oneself. In the spirit of making each of the 95% a little better than yesterday, let us first consider that the diversion effect is a negative aspect. So, this is to clearly state that abstaining the diversion effect is more important in order to protect your goal achievements.
Mindful preparation is halfway to achievement! It makes sense that, at first when you decide the goal, one should take time to pause and underline the possible hacks and diversions that could crop up amidst the route. You become your worst critic. Look at it from all positive and detrimental dimensions. Push and test it hard. It helps you list the actions to be taken for maintaining a steady course. Which cannot rock the boat (unless you divert). This power of imagination precedes clarity. Clarity precedes action. Actions around goals precedes achievement. Here, you just noticed that we spoke of not abstaining, but immersive planning.
Things can go wrong anytime! Unpredictability is real! It barges in unexpectedly. Alongside absolute firm plans (which is Plan A) during the thinking stage, you should have at least a Plan B and a Plan C prepared to save you upon unprecedented falls or diversion possibilities. Diversion can be caused by either forces of nature or best loved ones. It is imperative to have these plans coined well, written as a guide and reviewed at set periods to allow your fluid motion towards goal that can be measured and cherished. Your successful course towards goals when measured and reviewed shall increase the boost all the healthy juices of the brain. Researchers say it helps live longer. The intensity of the boost will depend on your innate connection to the goals.
These guidelines prepared and followed through, will find that the inner you being firm is enough to abstain from the diversion effect. Basically, there wouldn't be any diversion effect. Because you're well-armed to focus on your goals, whatever it may be!
