Weekly Fiber & Telecom Wrap-Up

📡 The State of the State in Fiber Last week we saw momentum building both locally and nationally:

  • Florida: Tillman Infrastructure and HyperFiber are advancing expansions, while municipal networks are stepping up to close coverage gaps. Workforce development is also gaining traction — BEAD allocations are expected to bring in 20,000+ new jobs statewide.
  • Nationally: The big news remains the AT&T/T-Mobile fiber M&A discussions alongside BEAD’s evolving rule set. With 76.5M homes now passed by fiber and Q2 adding 243K new connections, the growth curve remains steep — but policy clarity will decide how smooth the path forward is.

⚙️ Inside Plant Innovation We continue to see energy around PoE, fiber enclosures, and rack-integrated UPS solutions. These advances mean cleaner builds, better uptime, and more efficient density inside facilities — the perfect complement to the rapid fiber expansion outside.

🔭 Looking Ahead Expect the next wave of BEAD “Benefit of the Bargain” proposals to shake up state offices. Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi will be worth watching closely. On the ISP and co-op side, efficiency and labor costs are going to drive decision-making as fiber lead times stretch.
