🌱🎓Growing Together: Christian Koch’s path from Student Trainee to Junior Engineer at SECO 🚀
🚀 A Journey of Growth at SECO
At SECO, we believe that people grow best when they’re trusted, supported, and empowered. That’s exactly what happened to Christian Koch, who joined SECO’s Wuppertal office in 2021 as a student trainee in production — and is now ready to take the next big step in his professional journey.
After balancing his studies with hands-on work experience for the past few years, Christian will officially start a new chapter on September 1, stepping into the role of Junior Simulation and Validation Engineer in the R&D team, right after completing his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
🌱 More Than a Job: Learning by Doing
“Working as a student trainee while studying was a challenge,” Christian shares, “but it also gave me the chance to grow, apply what I was learning, and gain real experience.”
This blend of theory and practice not only helped him develop technical skills, but also gave him a stronger sense of direction and purpose. His transition to a full-time engineering role is the natural evolution of a journey built on dedication, learning, and trust — values that are at the core of SECO’s approach to people development.
🏞️ Outside the Lab: Nature, Balance & Passion
Christian isn’t just passionate about engineering. Outside of work, he enjoys connecting with nature and creative hobbies.
“I like photography — even though I’m no more than an amateur when it comes to operating the camera, I do have an eye for good motives,” he admits. He finds energy and calm in the outdoors, whether it’s hiking, gardening, or exploring new places with friends. He also enjoys working on his car and listening to music on his Hi‑fi system.
Staying physically active is another important part of his routine. “I go bouldering, hit the gym, swim regularly, and jog from time to time. I rarely play ball sports like soccer or basketball — they’ve just never been my thing.”
Right now, as he’s finishing his thesis while still working, time is tight. “Lately, I’ve mainly been swimming, since it helps me clear my mind and stay fit. Once I’m done with my studies, I’ll definitely pick up my other activities again. For now, I’m keeping fit with small workouts at home.”
💬 A Culture of Respect
When asked about SECO’s core values, Christian doesn’t hesitate: “Respect. That’s the one I currently identify with the most.”
Even during dynamic and sometimes challenging times in production, he always appreciated the respectful and friendly atmosphere among colleagues. “That was one of the reasons I chose to stay at SECO and continue my journey here. It really makes a difference when you feel that your voice is heard and your work is valued.”
💡 Growing with SECO
Christian’s story is a reflection of what SECO stands for: investing in people, nurturing young talent, and creating the conditions for long‑term growth.
Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and a collaborative environment, SECO empowers its employees to evolve — not only as professionals, but also as individuals. Whether you're a student trainee or a senior engineer, there is space to learn, contribute, and grow.
We’re proud of Christian’s path so far and thrilled to see him take this exciting step forward in his career. His journey shows how SECO is more than a workplace — it’s a place where growth happens, together!
