How I Created a Career That Blends Purpose, Profit, and People?
When I first stepped into the financial industry, I was drawn by the opportunities, the chance to build a successful career, create stability, and grow personally and professionally. But what kept me going, and what transformed my career into something truly fulfilling, was discovering how finance could be more than numbers, it could be about people, purpose, and long-term impact.
This is the story of how I created a career that not only provided income and recognition but also aligned with my core values and allowed me to empower others along the way.
Discovering the "Why" Behind the Work
Graduating with a degree in Accountancy from NTU gave me a strong foundation, but I quickly realized that traditional paths like audit didn’t ignite a fire in me. I wanted a career that was people-centric, future-focused, and allowed me to make a real difference.
Joining Credence Singapore wasn’t just a job move, it was a decision to build something more aligned with my personal mission: to help others achieve financial clarity and confidence.
In the beginning, I focused on learning and growing, but soon, I started asking deeper questions:
What does success really mean to me?
Can I create impact beyond the numbers?
How can I align profit with purpose?
Challenges That Led to Clarity
The early days weren’t easy. There were months of rejection, moments of self-doubt, and the constant pressure to meet targets. But instead of viewing these as setbacks, I saw them as signs to evolve.
I realized that if I wanted to build a sustainable and meaningful career, I needed to:
Shift my focus from closing deals to building trust
Move from chasing outcomes to understanding needs
Let go of comparison and create my own version of success
Each conversation with a client became more than a transaction, it became an opportunity to serve. And that’s when everything began to change.
Turning Financial Advice into Life Impact
When I sat across from a client, I started seeing more than their numbers. I saw their hopes, fears, and dreams. And I realized that financial advisory is a powerful tool to change lives.
From helping a young couple plan their future to guiding a single parent through financial independence, I saw how the right guidance could create peace of mind, confidence, and security.
This deeper connection with clients fueled my desire to:
Educate, not just advise
Empower, not just sell
Build relationships, not just portfolios
Creating Value Through Mentorship and Team Leadership
As I gained experience, I started mentoring others, not because I had all the answers, but because I knew how valuable support can be in the early stages.
I helped rookies navigate their doubts, develop their client approach, and find meaning in their work. Watching them grow gave me as much joy as hitting my own milestones.
In 2023, I was honored with the Top Master Builder Award Director, alongside my mentor. That same year, I received Top Rookie (Group Insurance) 2nd Runner-Up. These weren’t just accolades; they were a reflection of the people-first culture I was helping to create.
Designing a Career With Purpose at the Core
Over time, I developed my personal framework for a meaningful financial career:
Purpose: Start every day asking, "Who can I help today?"
Profit: Build smart, scalable systems that allow me to serve while sustaining success
People: Focus on relationships, both with clients and team members, as the heart of everything I do
This blend allowed me to:
Consistently grow my portfolio
Host workshops that educated over 200 individuals
Mentor 5 new advisors, 3 of whom went on to receive recognition
Storytelling as a Bridge to Connection
I began sharing my journey more openly, on social media, at events, and in mentoring sessions. I found that storytelling wasn’t just a marketing tool; it was a way to connect deeply.
When I talked about the struggles I faced, or the joy in helping a client reach their goals, people resonated. They saw that finance wasn’t cold or impersonal, it was human. It was about real lives, real dreams.
By telling my story, I encouraged others to find their own voice and lead with authenticity.
Lessons That Shaped My Path
Through every high and low, I discovered some timeless lessons:
Clarity precedes confidence – Know what you stand for, and you’ll never get lost.
Progress over perfection – It’s not about doing everything right, but doing the next right thing.
Serve before you sell – Impact drives income.
Legacy is built daily – It’s in the way you show up, listen, and lead.
Building a Future That Elevates Others
Today, my goal is not just to grow my career, it’s to create pathways for others. Whether it's clients who gain financial clarity or advisors finding their footing, I want to be a part of someone else's breakthrough.
At Credence, we believe in lifting others as we grow. That belief fuels my vision:
To lead a team that thrives on purpose and performance
To normalize empathy, storytelling, and heart in finance
To help the next generation build careers they’re proud of
