How I Found My Voice in Finance and Used It to Inspire Confidence in Others?

In the early stages of my career, I often felt like I had to fit a mold, to speak, act, and work in a certain way to "belong" in the world of finance. It took me time to realize that authenticity, not conformity, was the real key to success. This is the story of how I found my voice in finance, and how using that voice helped me inspire confidence in others.

This journey wasn't just about finding the courage to speak up. It was about redefining success, breaking through traditional expectations, and becoming a mentor and leader who empowers others to do the same.

Starting in Silence

When I first entered the finance industry, I felt like I was playing catch-up. Surrounded by confident, seasoned professionals, I questioned if I had what it took to succeed. I followed scripts, mimicked others' communication styles, and played it safe.

But inside, I felt disconnected. I had a strong desire to help others, to educate, and to make finance relatable and empowering. Yet I often held back, afraid of being seen as too inexperienced or too different.

The turning point came during a client session where I abandoned the script and spoke from the heart. I shared my own journey and how financial planning had impacted my family. The client’s response was immediate: they appreciated the honesty, the humanity, the clarity. That was the moment I realized, my voice matters.

Embracing Authenticity

I began leaning into my true self. Instead of hiding behind complex jargon or industry lingo, I focused on simplifying finance and making it accessible. I used storytelling, analogies, and empathy.

Clients began opening up more. They felt seen, heard, and understood. Trust grew. Results followed.

I also started sharing more online, not just about finance, but about mindset, growth, and real experiences. The response was overwhelming. People connected more with the human side of finance than with data alone.

Building Confidence in Others

As I gained confidence, I saw an opportunity to lift others too.

I began mentoring new advisors who, like me, struggled with self-doubt. I helped them find their own voices, showing them that success in finance doesn’t mean being someone else. It means being the best version of yourself.

One of my proudest moments was coaching a team member who was afraid to lead presentations. Through weekly role-plays, affirmations, and feedback, they not only presented to clients but went on to run their own workshops.

Confidence is contagious. When you lead authentically, others are inspired to do the same.

Achievements That Reflect Purpose

My transformation wasn’t just personal, it showed up in results.

  • I was awarded the Top Rookie (Group Insurance) 2nd Runner-Up in 2023, an achievement that reflected both performance and impact.

  • I grew my portfolio by 30% YoY, driven by client referrals who appreciated a more human, transparent approach.

  • I co-led financial literacy workshops that reached over 200 individuals, many of whom had never felt confident enough to talk about money before.

These milestones weren’t just about numbers. They were proof that finding your voice leads to meaningful, measurable impact.

Turning Vulnerability into Strength

One of the greatest shifts in my journey was reframing vulnerability as strength.

Sharing my challenges, doubts, and learning curves didn’t diminish my credibility. It enhanced it. People trust realness. They relate to imperfection. It creates safe spaces for honest conversations.

Especially in finance, where fear and uncertainty are common, being able to say "I understand" and truly mean it makes a profound difference.

Creating a Culture of Empowerment

At Credence, we believe in building leaders, not just advisors. This culture allowed me to mentor, speak, and lead with purpose.

I now encourage every team member to:

  • Define what success means for them

  • Find a communication style that feels natural

  • Share their stories and values with pride

By doing so, we've built a team culture that thrives on trust, collaboration, and individual growth.

Lessons Learned

If I could distill this journey into a few key lessons, they would be:

  1. Your voice is your power – Don’t trade it for approval.

  2. Authenticity builds trust – People don’t want perfection; they want connection.

  3. Confidence is built through action – You don’t wait for it; you create it.

  4. Vulnerability is strength – It opens doors to empathy and deeper relationships.

  5. Empowerment multiplies – When you lift others, your impact expands exponentially.

Your Voice Matters Too

To anyone in finance or any professional field who’s still finding their voice—know that your story, your experience, and your authenticity have power.

If I could go from feeling unheard to leading with confidence, so can you. Start by embracing who you are, learning as you go, and speaking with purpose.

Because when you find your voice, you don’t just change your life, you change the lives of everyone you have the courage to speak to.
