I Knew It Was Going to Be a Bad Day When …
My alarm was set for 4:30 a.m. My husband & I got up, finished packing and then headed to the airport. Our destination? Salt Lake City for a winter vacation. We used our SkyMiles to upgrade to first class, which was a real treat.
Things took a turn for the worse as I was enjoying my breakfast: quiche topped with small, juicy red and orange tomatoes. Just as I took a bite, one of the tomatoes burst open, splattering all over my face and white shirt. I couldn't help but laugh, but what a mess.
Then, I got a message from a friend who told me my email was bouncing. Like I didn't exist. And it was my main email. There was nothing I could do at the time.
When we finally landed, we hired a driver to take us to the hotel. Unfortunately, the road up the canyon was at a virtual standstill due to poor driving conditions, and it took forever to get there.
When we checked in and went to our room, we discovered it didn't have the king-sized bed we'd specified—that none was available for the next five nights. Grrrr.
After that, my husband, who's pretty tech savvy, spent hours trying to figure out why my email was messed up. And to think it all started because we'd tried to add another user.
It should have been simple, but nothing worked. I couldn't get any emails--even personal ones. Finally, with the help of my former assistant, we got most of them working again.
But not my main email. I'm going nuts, hoping we can solve this problem soon.
At last, it was bedtime. That's when we discovered that our heater wasn't working. At 10:30, the maintenance guy showed up to get it going again. Then we crashed.
Ever had a day like that? If so, please share it. Misery loves company! Plus, I could use a good laugh.
The good news is, the next day was much better. It truly is possible to survive even the worst days.

5moI really have always like you and will continue too, BUT you were on vacation. It happens, you had a better day the next day. Those are first world problems. We should all be so lucky.

5moI am laughing inside, because this experience must have been quite frustrating. If my wife and I would experience anything close to a vacation start like yours, we would probably pack our bags and get the heaven out of there. How was the next day for you? You guys must be vacation-rescilient?! 💪
